summer before seventh year
———————

I adored Nymphadora Tonks. Truly adored her. In a big sister, always been around kinda way. She was always there for me when I needed advice. She helped me when I got my first period. She was there for me when I lost my virginity and cried because I was overwhelmed and didn't have anyone else.

I didn't have anyone else because I knew I had Tonks.

She was in the same year at Hogwarts as Charlie. And although she was a Hufflepuff, she was good friends with us Weasleys.

The summer after she got married to Remus, tensions were high at home. No one really knew what was happening and if they did, they didn't tell me.

Our family and friends had long time dedicated ourselves in the protection of Harry Potter.

I was the same I'd always been. Just Daisy Weasley. Too small and not strong, not defensive enough in spells to help besides manning the fort at home. Staying at the burrow all summer doing absolutely nothing besides writing back and forth to Lavender via owl.

"I miss you coming around the house," I whined to Tonks after she came to visit. "It's boring here and I'm barely allowed to leave. It's not the same now that you're married and stuff."

She leaned against the kitchen counter. "You know it's best if you stay indoors."

"Nobody is telling Ron to stay indoors. I mean, why is he allowed to roam all over with Harry and Hermione and I'm not allowed to see my friends?"

She laughed. "It's a little different, Daisy."

"It doesn't feel different," I shrugged, giving a brief sigh into nothing but the empty feeling in the room. "I'm just... so bored and lonely here."

"I know something that will cheer you up," Tonks smiled, then he placed her coffee mug down. "Can you keep a little tiny secret?"

After agreeing multiple times, she reached for her wand and cast a small pregnancy spell. The tip of her wand glowed and a small ball of green and blue energy pulsed in front of us.

My eyes lit up in excitement, jumping a small bit. I loved babies. I loved seeing them at the Inn and around Hogsmede. I couldn't wait to have my own family one day. Maybe after I go off go university and meet someone. "No bloody way!!"

"Shhh, shh! We haven't told anyone. Really, Remus would kill me if he knew I told you. You must not tell a single soul, Daisy. I mean it."

"I won't," I nodded, agreeing without hesitation. "I'm so happy for you. For you both. Oh! He's going to be so loved."
