It wasn't a voice you recognized so you ignored it, thinking that the person wasn't addressing you. That is until you felt a tap on your shoulder.

You lift your head and your eyes meet with a very nice shade of violet that are covered by clear round glasses. The guy isn't smiling but neither does he look mad or angry. He has blond hair with blue streaks in some parts. It looks nice in your opinion but one thing stands out that you simply can't ignore.

"Are you, like, the Walmart version of Harry Potter?"

Maybe it's the round glasses. Maybe it's his get-up. The long dark coat he's wearing makes him look like a Hogwarts student and while you never really watched the Harry Potter movies, some of the other kids really liked to dress up as the characters.

"Ingnore I asked." Grumbling he turns to walk into the store and you reach out to grab his sleeve. "I'm sorry, I just. . ." You try to come up with an excuse while standing there, holding onto his sleeve like an idiot. You and him make eye contact again and you try to refrain from saying anything else that could offend him.

"I like your glasses." Letting go of his jacket and bend forward a little, hands behind your back to seem innocent. Hopefully the change of topic will make him forget about your first comment.

The stranger stays silent, staring at you for a couple of seconds before turning his body to face you. "So you want coffee or not?" You nod, hoping to engage in a more normal conversation once he got the beverage.

After a couple minutes of him being in the store he comes back out, two cups of coffee in his arms as well as a package of chips. He sits down next to you on the bench you had previously sat on when he first called out to you.

"Shit day?" He asks while opening the chips bag. You nod and hum in agreement, sipping your coffee before sighing loudly. "Quit my job. Why are you at a convenient store just to buy chips?" He glares at you before biting into a chip "What, you judging me now after I bought you coffee?" You quickly deny his words, shaking your head no "No absolutely not. Just curious, I would never have the strength to leave the house for just a bag of chips." He takes another and quickly chews and swallows before answering.

"Had a fight with my brother and wanted out of the house."

You stay silent, not wanting to intrude on some strangers life. "So what's your name?" He takes a sip of his own coffee this time.

"[L/N] [F/N]. I prefer just [F/N]. What about you dear stranger."

"Haitani Rindou. Rindou's fine."

You both sit in silence for a little while, having nothing to continue the conversation with. You both sip on your beverage while he takes a chip to eat every now and then. He holds the bag towards you as an offering but you shake your head, not in the mood for anything solid.

While you two sit in silence your mind wanders off and you start thinking about your future again. With your stable income now gone you wonder if you'll end up committing again. While the current you has no desire to die, you understand why future you ended up dead in her bathtub. Maybe a job wasn't the answer, you peek at Rindou to your right, maybe it was the fact you've been alone all the time.

With a friend by your side to pick you up when you feel down, maybe that will keep you going. It was worth a shot as there were to real repercussions for present you.

While you think of a way to befriend the blond you have a sudden cold shiver run down your spine. The world slows and your vision sharpens. The world goes gray and you see how Rindou moves his left hand to tap your right shoulder. Shortly after he touched you the world returns to normal and you immediately turn your head to look at Rindou lifting his arm to reach out.

Usually you only get visions when you're in danger, weird.

"You good in there? Thought I lost you for a second." His voice doesn't sound concerned and his words mean more to teas you spacing out than worry. You make up your mind then and there and set yourself a goal to befriend the Harry Potter cosplayer.

"Let's exchange numbers."

With confused eyes Rindou stares at you. Did you really just ask a stranger for his number after knowing him for approximately ten minutes.

"Come on. I don't have friends, gotta start somewhere."

Maybe it's selfish of you to wiggle your way into his life to save your own, even though your survival isn't guaranteed just yet, but you simply had to try. It didn't hurt present you and you'd find out soon enough if it hurt your future self or not. For now interacting with Rindou and befriending him had no cons.

With a groan and a sigh the blond gets out his phone. "If you bother me too much I'll block you." With that you take his phone and save your number into his as well as copying his into yours. Smiling you give the device back to the guy before taking the last sip of your coffee. "I'll text you later Rin. Bye bye!" Excitedly you jump to your feet and walk over to the trashcan before walking back to the orphanage. You hear a couple shouts of disapproval concerning the nickname from Rindou but ignore his words and continue walking.

Before the day ends you lie in your bed and go through your contacts, seeing Rindou's nickname displayed as the only name other than the house number of the orphanage and the head lady's. You grin at your phone like an idiot, debating whether or not to text the blond.

Quietly muttering 'fuck it' it's yourself you sit up and click onto the number to message him. You write and delete your words a couple of times before opting for a simple 'Hey!'.

It doesn't take long for your phone to start ringing, Rindou's calling. You freak out for a little before taking a deep breath and answering his call.

"What's up? Why'd you call?"

He scoffs "You texted and I'm not a fan of writing. Calling is easier." It doesn't surprise you. Rindou seems like a very direct and bold guy so him saying calling is simply easier makes total sense in your head.

"I got nothing to do and you're my only contact." There's a long pause filled with silence so you take it upon yourself to continue. "How are you and your brother?" He groans "He won't talk to me." It takes you a great amount of strength to not sigh.

"What did you even do for him to give you the silent treatment?"

"I had a couple drinks in our living room with like a dozen people. Ran woke up around 4 pm and was in a really bad mood."

You urge him to go on since the story couldn't possibly have ended there. "Go on." Rindou groans again.

"I hid in the bathroom and when I came out he stripped them to their underwear and made them kneel. They left after but he's still mad at me."

You try to hold yourself together but the laugh creeping up your chest is simply too strong. You let out a snort and then start laughing fully, wheezing at the end. Rindou starts complaining, making you laugh more. He sounds flustered and a little embarrassed, he's probably blushing on the other end of the line.

"Sorry, sorry. But that was too funny-" you break out into laughter again, even having to wipe the tears from your eyes.

After calming yourself you lay back onto your mattress, smiling as you listen to Rindou cursing you out.

"How about you apologize, buy or cook his favorite food and sit him down to say the words."

With a loud groan, followed by a frustrated sigh Rindou lets you know that he's too embarrassed. Giggling you think of something.

"Here. How about I help you?"
