What If? (Homecoming Part 1)

Chapter 10.1

"Mum, I prefer to wear gray. It suits me." I told my mum as I fixed me shirt.

"You are not going to wear a black t-shirt to the dance. Go and get your Dad's while polo and wear that." she said

"Mum I have no date, I'd rather look casual than you know." I told her and she sighed

"Fine you win."she told me as she fixed my gray blazer.

I knew I had to look as casual as I can be, I really didn't want to look my best since I wasn't dressing for anyone, and I thought to myself if this was the day my heart was going ti get broken it will be best if I wore this cause if I ever end up walking home crying there was nothing fancy to ruin with my get up.

"You seem preoccupied." my mum asked

"This is nothing mum." I said as I gave her a smile.

"You look great Jes."I said as I sat in the back seat of Niall's car.

"Next Zayn and Perrie, why couldn't Malik just buy a car instead of lugging around that motorcycle of his."Niall complained

"They are at Perrie's"Jesy said as she checked her phone

"Sorry for tagging along with you guys, I didn't really feel like getting a date." I told them

"We wouldn't have it any other way Lou." Jesy said with a smile. And as we parked in front of Perrie's Jesy texted her and they went out hand in hand, but stopping when Perrie fixed Zayn's neck tie.

"Sorry guys." Zayn said as he opened the door for Perrie.

Perrie sat beside me and Zayn sat beside her.

"Let's go!" Niall said as he drove us to the school.

"Why aren't you wearing a tux?" Perrie asked

"Not feeling like it." I admitted as we walked to the gym

"We look like freaking penguins while you look casual. I envy you." Zayn said

"I'm itchy in this penguin suit." Niall complained as he scratched his back.

"Babe you'll ruin your blazer." Jesy said as she fixed Niall's blazer making me smile.

My friends all found very nice girls to call their own, I was happy for them but I couldn't help but feel envious.

/flashback/

"Come here let me fix your tie." Jade said as we got ready for her brother Karl's wedding.

"We'll just march. No big deal."I told her as I smiled at her

"Lou we have to look good at the pictures. Now fix your hair." she said as she fixed my hair.

I wanted to stop her but she looked beautiful when she's focused. I wiped the sweat falling on her forehead.

"There you go. Handsome as always." she teased

"Wait, come her." I said before she turned around to get her purse

I removed the little eye lash that fell on her nose and then I kissed her forehead.

"Perfect."I told her and she took my hand

"Come on we'll be late." she said with a wide smile and I nodded

/end of flashback/

I was standing by the punch with Zayn when I saw Liam and Jade enter. She look classy even if she wore a simple white dress. She always looked best when she wore simple dresses like that, I smiled at the sight of her. Even though it pains me to see Liam's hand resting on her waist, she never fails to make me fall in love with her even more.

"Dammit. I love her." I whispered

"I know mate." Zayn told me with a weak smile

Zayn carried Perrie's punch as we walked towards our table where I saw Jade and Liam sitting.

"Hey, I'll sit with Harry and the other guys." I told Zayn and he nodded

It was turning into a couples table and I just didn't want to feel left out. I sat beside Harry and JJ Thompson (another teammate of ours)

"Is this the bachelors' table?" I asked and both of them laughed

"Seems like it mate." Thompson said

"I'm just glad Cher isn't bothering me again. That girl can be too much to handle." Harry admitted as he looked at Cher and Leigh-Anne by the doorway.

"Leigh-Anne looks fine in her dress." Harry adds

"She does."Thomson said as he drank his punch

I didn't know why but I seem to notice Harry tense up when Thompson said that.

"This feels like torture." I whispered

"Couples everywhere huh?" Thompson asked making me nod

Then Jesy started talking on the stage.

"Hey everyone don't forget to vote for our nominees at the booth by the door, one vote per student and the results will be announced later this evening so for now enjoy the music from our in house DJ JJ Thompson!" Jesy screamed making Thomspon stand up.

"Come on mate lets sit by the bleachers." Harry said as we stood up and sit at the other end of the gym.

"When did football players become the outcast?" Harry asked

"We're just people Harry. We shouldn't be put on a pedestal." I told him

"I guess." he said with a sigh.

I saw Jade dancing with Liam and I saw her beautiful smile. I wish it was because of me, but it wasn't. All I could do was stare.

"How can Liam not see the way you look at her?" Harry said

"What do you mean?"I asked

"You love Jade mate, we all know." Harry told me

"The way you love Leigh-Anne." I responded

"I see the way you look at her."I added

"I just don't how to tell her without hurting Cher. They are best friends and I can't do that to them. Cher is a great friend but Leigh-Anne just cares so much and I want to be able to take care of her."Harry admitted

"Then tell her, dance with her and tell her." I told him

"You think that's a good idea?"Harry asked

"Better than to keep it." I answered

"Cause you'll always wonder what if I told her sooner? What if I had the guts to just tell her, what if...." I added

"We shouldn't live in what ifs."Harry said as he stood up and went to Leigh-Anne and Cher.

I sighed, I was living in a what if world... I just wanted to get out of it... But I don't know how...
