Summary: Y/N has a bad stomach ache, but thankfully, her best friend Peter Parker is there to take care of her. When another member of the Iron Fam wanders in and calls them out, however, they might have to finally face the fact that they've been more than friends for a while now.

"Hey, Y/N, come check out this cool thing I- what's wrong?"

I couldn't even bring myself to look up at my best friend, Peter Parker, as he came to a sudden stop at the sight of me sprawled out on the couch. My stomach had been absolutely killing me all day, and I worried that the slightest movement might be enough to make the pain double.

Although, at this point, my nerves would probably short out before we got to the actual doubled amount of my current pain.

"Y/N?"

I groaned in response as Peter took a few concerned steps towards me. Once he got close enough, I squinted up at him, just barely lifting my head.

"My stomach's been killing me all day," I muttered. "I figured out that if I lie perfectly still and do nothing, it hurts a tiny bit less."

Peter's eyebrows knit together in concern as he dropped to kneel beside me.

"Oh no! Do you want me to go get somebody? Maybe Strange since he's a real doctor, not just a magic doctor-"

"Mm, that's okay," I said, reaching out to put my hand on Peter's shoulder as I stopped him. "I'm sure it'll pass, and I don't need a bunch of Avengers fussing over me until it does. I think it's just some bad food poisoning."

"I mean, that's fair, I just... I wish there was something I could do."

"Sit with me?" I asked, giving him a hopeful smile. He gave me a soft smile in return.

"Of course."

We shifted around as carefully as possible, and it only made my stomach ache a little bit worse. It was worth it in the end, when I ended up with my head resting in Peter's lap as he held me.

"Do you want me to put something on?" he asked, gesturing to the tv. I smiled.

"Sure, why not?"

Peter smiled and carefully grabbed the remote, making sure not to shift me in the process. He put on our favorite show, and I sighed happily as he set the remote back on the couch and we settled in together. Between him and the show on the tv, I'd stopped noticing my stomach ache so much.

We sat together in comfortable silence. We'd been best friends for a long time, and just being around each other was enough to make us both feel better, whatever the other factors in our lives may be.

After a few minutes, Peter absentmindedly started rubbing his hand over my stomach in soft, soothing circles. I sighed and closed my eyes.

"Does that help at all?" he asked. I hummed happily. "My Aunt May always does this for me when I have a stomach ache."

"It feels really good. Thanks for taking such good care of me, Peter."

"Of course," he replied, sounding surprised I'd even mentioned it. "I'll always take care of you."

I reached up and grabbed his free hand, pulling it to my chest and holding it there, just above my heart. I smiled, and even though the pain wasn't completely gone in my stomach, the peaceful bliss of this moment with Peter made most other things fade away.

We stayed like that for a long time, burning through episode after episode of our favorite show. I'd actually started to drift off to sleep when the sound of a familiar voice brought me back to being awake.

"Parker, what the hell are you doing?"

I cracked open my eyes and squinted up to see Harley Keener standing in front of the tv. He had his hands on his hips as he stared down at me and Peter.

"Harley, sh! She's asleep!"

"No, she's not," I grumbled, scowling up at Harley. "What the hell are you doing Keener?"

"I asked first."

I sighed heavily through my nose and closed my eyes again. Peter took over dealing with Harley.

"We're relaxing," he said. "Y/N has a stomach ache, so I was helping her feel better."

"Yeah, and it was working really well until you came along," I added. I curled up in Peter's lap a little more, turning towards him and away from Harley.

Harley scoffed. "Seriously, why don't you two just date already? It's getting really annoying seeing you both in such hardcore denial every day."

I froze, and I felt Peter do the same. Neither of us moved an inch. What was Peter thinking right now? Personally, my heart had stopped in my chest.

The silence stretched on, neither Peter nor I daring to move an inch. Once Harley realized the total shutdown he'd caused, he quickly bowed out of his own mess.

"Well... I guess I'll leave you guys to figure this out..."

I still didn't move an inch, and after another second, I heard Harley awkwardly shuffle off. From the tone of his voice, it sounded like he'd instantly regretting bringing it up in the first place. Good. He deserved to feel bad for interrupting our nice day.

After a few more beats of awkward silence with neither of us moving, I gritted my teeth and sat up. My stomach cramped as I did, and as soon as Peter saw the pain on my face, he snapped into action and pulled me close into his side.

"Y/N, you should try to go back to sleep-"

"I'm pissed that Harley woke me up and interrupted our nice moment, don't get me wrong. But... I don't know, was his question worth asking? I mean... ugh, I don't know what I mean."

"Did you mean... you think we should start dating? Because... I mean, I never really thought about it, but I guess... we kind of already are?"

I looked up at him from where I sat curled against his side, my legs across his lap. One of his arms was wrapped around my shoulders, holding me close, and the other rested on my thigh. I'd been asked out a few times since I'd gotten close with Peter, and honestly, never once had I wanted to take anyone up on their offers.

I met Peter's eyes. He stared at me with uncertainty and concern, but just looking at him made my heart swell with love.

"We have definitely been dating for at least the past month," I agreed. Peter and I shared a laugh, and although I hated to admit Harley was right... Harley was right.

Carefully, Peter tangled his hand in my hair and stared at me lovingly. He was taking in the moment, even though we hadn't technically changed much. I, on the other hand, was not wasting another second.

I leaned up, ignoring the pain in my stomach, and kissed Peter. He seemed surprised for a second, but then he wasted no time pulling me in even closer to him as he kissed me back.

"We waited way too long to do this," I breathed as we broke apart for a second, our foreheads still pressed together.

"I agree," said Peter. I leaned back up towards him, and he quickly took the hint and kissed me again. We lost ourselves in each other, like we had so many times before. Only this time there was a lot more kissing.

I had to admit, I was a fan of the change (and not just because it made me forget about my stomach ache). And clearly Peter was too.

I guess we'd both have to thank Harley the next time we saw him, no matter how annoying he'd been.
