chapter 3

Matteo nervously entered the dining room with Dante. Dante lacked emotion as he sat down next to Emilia.

Matteo took a seat next to Mason who didn't seem to pleased with him. She probably told him which she couldn't blame. He had treated her awful.

"I don't blame you Emilia, I was just angry with everything and I knew it wasnt your fault yet I said that anyway. I'm so sorry" he said hoping she would forgive him.

"You don't hate me?"

"Never"

"Then you're forgiven" she said, she forgave him easy because she didn't want to loose another sibling.

Emilia looked towards the seat Damon always took at dinner, she couldn't help remember how she often would pass him notes to speak with him back when she was terrified to speak.

She remembered one of the notes where she accused him of being like a serial killer. At the time it was just a joke but now as she sat eating dinner deep in thought, It was quite a real possibility.

They had guns. There was a shooting.
They managed to hide the truth without a proper investigation. What happened to Henry? What happened to Lexi?
Why were they so calm about a shooting? Damon was scary and emotionless when he entered that room to find her. He shot people like it was nothing. They all had guns.

And then there was Antonio's voice in her head saying 'mafia'.

Was what Antonio claimed were just rumours true?

We're her brothers part of the Mafia?

But Damon is so nice....but he has anger issues.
But he would always reassure her...but he could be cold and distant.

"You look troubled Emilia, do you want to talk about it" Mason asked.

"Oh I'm just thinking"

"What about" Dante asked.

"Nothing really just about how stalkerish Damon is actually going to be" she lied effortlessly.

"Oh yeah watch him invest in some stalker equipment " Matteo joked.

Emilia smiled. She didn't want to believe her family were part of the Mafia. They were so loving.

"I was thinking Mason, Damon wouldn't want me to miss school. Could I try going back" she asked knowing she would need to speak to Antonio about it.

Mason was hesitant "I'll speak to dad but if you think you are ready then of course" he said.

The three of them had taken time off to 'mourn' and be with their brother. Of course they spent alot of time at the hospital but the brothers 'mourned' their mother by torturing Henry.

"It's Monday tommorow so maybe I could go tommorow" Emilia really didn't want to keep waiting.

"It will be a distraction for me too. It'll keep my mind focused on something else" she added.

Mason nodded "what about you two" he asked his brothers.

Emilia hoped they would say no so she could talk without them overhearing.

"I suppose it's time to go back" Dante said.

The next day

Emilia had been a little distant with them but they didn't pick up on it because she had been distant for the past two weeks.
They all knew the conversation they would need to have at some point but they didn't suspect she was doing her own investigation.

She entered the school, her brothers close behind but giving her space at the same time.

Antonio was the first to spot her and he was quick to approach her. He pulled her into a hug "why are you back so soon? Are you okay? Of course you're not okay, ignore that question"
