Kenya's POV*
8:57

"What a sweet young man" She says and I could tell he doesn't like this by his awkward smile

He doesn't like meeting new people. He likes being comfortable but it just takes time

He'll get comfortable around her soon enough

"Thank you for doing this and thank you for taking care of my daughter. She looks so fresh and the life she has here is what she deserves" My mom says, smiling at Aaron and his face softens while looking at me

She hugs him before touching my face
"Yuh nuh see yuh put on more weight. Weh ya thick a go?"

Why do Jamaicans always have something to say about weight after not seeing someone for a long time?

I'm literally the same size as when I left
I think.

She wraps her arms around me

Aaron goes outside, to talk with Nine and my mom whispers
"The house big eeh. Me swear think a wah Villa we a stay at" She says and I chuckle

"Come me show yuh your room" I say before walking off and she follows behind

I think the room downstairs is best because you can hardly hear anything from upstairs and the steps would kill her

I push open the door and she smiles, looking around

"Wow, you do this?" She asks

I decorated her room when Aaron went away today. Dale gave me the idea

It's just to make her feel more at home.

It looks just like her room in Montego Bay

"Yes, just fi make yuh comfortable" I answer and she plops down on the bed

"You know I don't want to move to Kingston right? I built that house, My whole life is in Mobay" She says and I sit beside her

"I know mommy but your there by yourself. It's not safe. Your not working, you could rent out the house, fully furnished and just take the things you'd want to have at your new house"

"That's a good idea. I could spend more time with you, plus the money part sound good" She says like she's thinking about it

"Alright, before Aaron look the house for you, think it through and make your decision. It's no rush"

"Mi know but unuh a big people. Unuh a go need space and me definitely need mine" She says and I furrow my brows

"Hello? Wah kinda space yuh need so?"

"So you think a you alone have needs?" She asks and I cringe at her words

"Mommy, please give me a break from your slackness" I say and she laughs out

It was just us, growing up so our bond is super tight. She talks to me about anything, like I'm more of her best friend than her daughter.

I love the bond that we share. I'm grateful for it matter a fact, because growing up, I learnt that a lot of teenagers can't tell their mom about certain things...
Or anything at all for that matter

"So tell me, What does he do?" She asks

Shit, how me a go answer this?

"Um-" There's a knock on the door and I thank god!

Saved by the knock

It's Nine, telling my mom that he's leaving and she gets up to talk to him
