I swore under my breath as I bent and stretched my arms. The pain was getting worse. I sucked in a breath as I relaxed my arms at my sides when I heard footsteps approaching, making me look up. Chan came over to me, giving me a slight smile. He stood against the tree I was standing by, crossing his arms over his chest.
"How are your arms feeling?"
"Still tender, but it's probably just because of the shooting and tree-climbing. I'm sure a hot shower and some sleep will have me back to normal."
"Just don't push yourself too hard... You know, I'm quite impressed with how you handled yourself just now. Especially the tree-climbing idea. You saved our asses out there."
"It was nothing. When I heard the gunshots, I panicked. So, I thought I might as well come help you guys out of my mess."
"This wasn't your fault though. He went after you. So, if anyone is to blame, it's him."
"Thanks Chan. I appreciate you saying tha-"
"What the hell are you doing out here, Ava? Didn't I tell you to stay put?" Hyunjin interjected, stalking my way.
"You did, but I got worried-"
"Hyunjin, she saved all our lives. If it weren't for her, we would all be in a stand-off without any bullets. You should be thanking her," Chan interjected.
"But-"
"No buts. She saved us. Even though she knew it would put her life in danger."
Hyunjin went quiet at Chan's words but gave me a glare. He stretched out his hand to me. When I didn't take it and gave him a strange look, he spoke again.
"We're going to the hospital. Felix is going to drop off the cookies and I am going to take you for X-rays. You wouldn't listen, so now I'm going to be the whiny brat that I can be. That should persuade you into listening."
"You know I'm twenty, right? I'm a grown-up. I can take care of myself."
"But when I leave you to take care of yourself, you make it worse. So now I'm taking over. Come on."
He gave me his hand again, and this time I took it, but not before giving Chan a pleading look. He just smirked. I let Hyunjin drag me away from the group and the bodies scattered in the grass. As I stumbled after Hyunjin with his long legs, I heard him call out to Felix, the blonde boy appearing from behind a tree like a little weasel popping out. I giggled slightly at him, making me lose my footing. I was about to land on my face when someone grabbed my elbow. I looked over to find Lee Know at my side. His eyes held mine for a moment before he straightened me up and turned to Hyunjin who had stopped by then.
"Be gentle with her. She is still a girl, after all," Lee Know said, his face uninterested.
"I was being careful. Or I was being more careful than you, Hyung."
"What is that supposed to mean, Pretty Boy?"
"Oh, nothing. Besides the fact that I didn't leave her in a daze on the stairs."
"If I heard the story correctly, you were the one who almost made her fall. Isn't that right?"
"At least I caught her."
"That is exactly what I just did. Looks like I'm doing your job-"
"Guys! Seriously, you are like a bunch of horny college boys. Calm down."
They both looked down at me, their much larger forms towering over me. Then they looked back at each other, giving each other a blood-chilling glare. Hyunjin went to take my hand again, but Lee Know stopped him.
