How dare he ?

I didn't reject him, I didn't push him away and he leaves me there eyes closed expectating..I felt like a fool ; heat rise on my cheeks and embarrassment overwhelmed me as I realize he wasn't going to kiss me.

His intention were clear ..I sensed his want, his desire to be near me. I did not imagine this, he drew me closer..

- " How dare you ?", I shout upset, "What is wrong with you ? Are you confused ? Will you really pull out of this engagement ? Did we not court ? "

I opened my eyes, with difficulty, I took my hands off his strong chest, pull away from him as gracefully as I could trying to save some of my pride.

I continued dryly, drained of all emotions

- " You can't do that !! Our fathers ..if not for our fathers, we did share moments or maybe I imagine that too. Say it ! This..this conversation is unnecessary if it is your sentiments towards me"

I looked at him anger flooding to him but he wasn't fazed. He simply looked at me..as in reading everything I wasn't saying..hurt,pain,want,pride..

Upset I felt tears burning but I retained them, they can not fall ; if he can stay in front of me unmoved like this, so could ..so could I.

But what was I thinking coming here..he is my betrothed, feeling my wool ring, he promised he would take care of me

-"You promised me ! "

For the first time, I saw emotions slip right out of him..this sorta of ..endearment towards me, tenderness soften his expression.

I could feel him reach out before saying anything and just when he was about to ... The door opened abruptly

-"Son! ", cried his father as he stepped in, not even noticing me nor realizing what he interrupted, "Our cousin, the King, has asked for you. Quickly let's go ! Alfred, my son and I are leaving "

Luke left..he left me
