How's she?

Continuation of the last chapter

Nick stood up, feeling how weak his knees were,it felt like they were jello, feeling how his surroundings were getting blurry,the sounds around him getting quiter the longer he looks at Meredith's figure on the hospital bed in the ICU.

"Nick, you have to stay strong" Amelia said softly, trying to comfort Nick as she was rubbing his back up and down gently

"C-can I sit with her?" he asked hesitantly knowing his relationship with Meredith isn't cristal clear at the moment "Just for a while maybe?" he added

"Of course..." Amelia nodded, giving him small sad smile

"Thank you" he smiled sadly at him before walking towards the ICU's door, wearing a gown,face mask and  gloves trying to prevent Meredith from getting infection before he stepped inside the room, closing the door behind him.

He slowly walk towards the bed,the quiet beep of the machine that's showing her not so stable vitals,the humm sound of the vent that's helping her breath were the only sounds in the room.

"Hey,Mer... it's me" he said slowly as hell took the stool, pulling it near her bed sitting on it "You probably don't even want me here after what happened but" he added, taking her hand into his hesitantly wanting to feel her touch against his "I want you to know that I'll be with you the whole time... I'll wait for you" tears slowly left his eyes  "No matter how long does it takes... I'll be with you"

Amelia and Maggie stood outside the ICU watching Nick talking to Meredith's still unconscious figure on the bed as Jo stood nect to them.

"How's she? Any changes?" Jo asked worried about her former mentor

"Nothing" Amelia answered "Not a single vital... everything still the same as last night" she added taking a deep breath

"Since when's Nick's here?" she then asked looking at Amelia then back at the ICU room

"This morning... your husband almost beat him up" Maggie chuckled sadly at her last sentence

"Hmmm figured..." Jo sighs deeply "He's very protective when it comes to the women he cares about" she added "Especially Mer... before me"

"Of course he is, they're best friends" Amelia stated amusedly "You know I thought she was in love with Alex at your wedding day because she wasn't feeling like herself that day but then I thought she was in love with you bec-" before she could even finish her rambling, Jo interrupted her

"What?" she chuckled surprised at her words

"Don't judge me now" Amelia joked, trying to sound offended "I just had a thought about why she's spending more time with you in the lab then she gave you Bailey's total gastrectomy  solo surgery"

"There was an accident so I needed to step up" Jo defended "We weren't in love "

"Right" Amelia said,not so convincingly as she looked back at the ICU room seeing Nick's head resting on Meredith's arms.

"We're not—"

"No got it!" Amelia cutted her making Maggir chuckle as well behind them as Jo just rolled her eyes annoyed at her.

"Hey!" they heard someone walking towards them "I heard what happened and I uhm... I just thought it'd be disrespectful if I didn't stop by"

"Nathan,hi" Maggie greeted giving him a small smile

"Where did you hear about this? It's a private and sensitive case" Amelia added looking at him confusedly

"I was at the lounge getting my things I left here and I heard the nurses talking about it... I'm sorry but I—i can go... it I"

"No, it's fine... you can stay" Maggie said instead, giving him a small smile earning a small genuine smile back from Nathan

"How's she?" Nathan then asked, looking at Meredith's figure

"She's still in critical condition since last night" Maggie answered shortly

"Did she have a brain surgery?" he asked, referring to the gauze wrapped around Meredith head

"She had a brain bleed,it was mild but it affected her brain more that it should have" Amelia explained

"Who could have possibly did this to such a helpless person" Nathan sighs deeply.

"They're still investigating the scene where they found Meredith but unfortunately... they haven't find anything yet" Amelia said after some moments

"Can I go inside?"Nathan asked softly looking at the three women in front of him

"I don't think you should be there while Nick's still there..." Jo then said,stating the fact "He hasn't got out since he entered earlier and he seemed to be talking to Meredith"

"Right...." Nathan nodded absently as he just kept looking at the room. "Have she woken up yet?" he asked again after some moment

"Not yet... and there's no guarantee she'd wake up anytime soon she needs to heal" Maggie answered.

"So she was unconscious when they found her?" Nathan  asked again

"Yeah..." Amelia nodded softly

Nathan kept his gaze to Meredith's figure and to Nick's figure eyeing them.
It's been weeks since he last saw Meredith and Nick after Nick caught Meredith laying naked in Nathan's bed the next morning he and Nathan are supposed to go out for a walk.

A stupid walk could led to this?
