Someone Else's Star [occasional update]

"What are you doing here?"

It's been two days and fortunately, Meredith has been stable ever since.
They're going to try and take her off the vent since her vitals were getting better everyday but unfortunately haven't woken up yet.

"Shouldn't we call Nick?" Maggie asked as she and Amelia were walking down the hallway on their way to Meredith's room. "I mean... we'll extubate Meredith today and I think he'd want to it himself"

"I don't think that's a good idea..." Amelia breathed out "with Alex' mood... he has been eating irregularly since Meredith went into coma"

"Where is he anyway..." Maggie stated confused, "haven't seen him since yesterday" she added "pretty sure he wouldn't want to miss us extubating Meredith"

"He flew to somewhere I don't know... that's what Jo told me when I asked her this morning"  Amelia answered, earning a confused look for Maggie "Jo didn't know either" she added, trying to defend herself as they both reached Meredith's room, seeing Nathan's already there.

"Hey... you're here early" Amelia stated, offering him a small smile

"I won't stay long...Karev would probably beat my ass off if he sees me here" Nathan chuckled slightly, trying to lighten up their mood

"Don't worry... Alex isn't here, he's out of town" Maggie chuckled slightly, joining him on the couch as Amelia sat on the chair near them "we think..." she added,not sure about the information either

"So, he'd miss the show?" he asked earning a look at the two women "I mean... the extubation" he added, apologetic look on his face

"Don't know... we don't even know if he knows about it" Amelia replied, looking at her sister's figure on the hospital bed.

"I'm sure he'll be here" Maggie then stated,as if those words would make everything better.

Moments of loud silence, only the hum of Meredith's vent was the only noise that was filling the room, mumbled of the people outside they could barely understand as Nick walked in.

"Hi..." he greeted

"Hey" Maggie replied shortly as Amelia just gave him a small smile

"Any change?" he asked, hopefully standing by Meredith's bed

"Nothing..." Amelia answered "but we'll try to extubate her today"

"Says who?" he asked, looking up at her in shock

"Says me" they then heard Bailey walked in, Richard behind her

"Chief... good morning" Nick replied awkwardly

"Marsh..." Bailey gave back, looking at him as she stood at the edge of the bed

"Have you all seen Karev?" Richard asked standing next to Nick

"Not since yesterday" Maggie answered "Jo said he flew somewhere and didn't tell her where and when he'll be back" she added

"He really manage to travel with Meredith's condition?" Nick scoffed in disbelief

"Don't act as if a part of this isn't your fault!" Bailey then snapped at him

"Excuse me?" he asked in shock, confused at her comment

"You ignored her message when she was asking for your help and look where your stubbornness lead her!"

"I didn't k—" before he could even finished his sentence, Bailey again interrupted him

"Save it" she hissed "I can't even look at you right now" she added, looking back at Meredith's still unconscious figure as Nick just look at her in disbelief, embarrassed with the situation.

Technically Bailey's right.

Meredith wouldn't be laying in that hospital bed, unconscious if he bad just shove his stubbornness aside and response or at least read her message.

On the other hand,Alex knock on the door a few times, waiting for a response.

"Just a minute!" he heard from the other side of the door. He then heard the lock clicked,soon the door opens "Alex,what are you doing here?" confusion were written on their face, frowning at him

"It's Meredith..." he replied shortly,a sigh of relief left his mouth, feeling like a heavy lump was lifted off of his chest

"What about her?" confusion once again was visibly written on their face.

"She's in a coma" he added, his heart is now beating faster just the thought of being not there for Meredith.

"So,what do you want me to do? wake her up?" they said ironically,is he they thought Alex was joking but a part of them was hurting.

"She might not wake up..." he added, feeling how his heart dropped on his stomach with his own lie

"W-what?"

"I came in here because I thought you maybe.... want to —" they cutted him

"What,see her?" they scoffed at Alex suggestion "She's not my business anymore"

"She's your wife!" Alex snapped, getting a little impatient.
