Gem's POV:
My eyes fluttered open to the sight of the Ocean Empire.
The navy sky was sprinkled with silver, scintillating stars, and the moon shone high and proud in the speckled canvas.
"fWhip?" I croak, and it feels as though someone is trying to pull out my throat.
Desperate footsteps come pounding on the cold, wet prismarine floors, and a ghostly figure stares back at me with the most joyful eyes I have ever seen.
His face was littered with black smudges, his red hair tousled, and his face messy and black from all the ash he'd been playing with.
"Gem-"
His words were cut off by a short sniffle.
I smile, letting the warmth flood through my face as a cold tear rolls down my cheek towards my ear.
"Morning," calls a voice from beside me.
The Short King of Mezalea, Joel, was looking worse than fWhip - which surprised me (I mean, who could beat fWhip at looking messier?) - smiling kindly with his brown eyes.
"Happy family reunions are the best,"
The king sighs longingly, and I wonder what he's thinking about.
"Looks like someone had a good nap,"
The Ocean Queen walks in, her blue scales glinting in coordination with the starlight.
"Does anything hurt?" she asks, raising an eyebrow in concern.
"My throat," I answer, and once again, it feels as though a thousand daggers are prying out my vocal cords.
"Ah, yes," she said with hilarious credibility and nobility in her voice. I think a smile appears on my face, because Lizzie gains a smile too.
"Those are one of the side effects of you being drugged and sedated,"
And I feel my brain scream as my jaw drops.
"Told you so," she added, taking a side glance at fWhip, before turning back to me.
She pulls out a few vials, and I raise a curious brow.
"I went on a stealth mission to retrieve a few vials from the Overgrown," she explains, and I sigh at her reckless behaviour."fWhip accompanied me too, didn't you fWhip?" she reminded joyfully when he started tutting the Ocean Queen.
I watch in amusement as fWhip shoots a glare at Lizzie before pulling an apologetic smile and a mere shrug at me.
The Ocean Queen hands me the couple of vials and I close my eyes as the sizzling potions slide down my throat.
"Lizzie?" The short king's voice is laced with concern and confusion.
I turn my head - and it hurts less, thanks to Lizzie and fWhip's unjust ways of curing people - to look at what Joel is pointing to.
"But it doesn't snow in the ocean, right?" fWhip asks. "Lizzie, isn't that right?"
Lizzie nods.
Snow is swarming around the Prisma Palace, like a blizzard.
And there is nothing we can do to stop it.
