Jimmy's POV:
Scott's been thrown off a cliff.
The codfather head is gone.
Joel is dead.
Lizzie hates me.
I know exactly who to blame.
Well, that was a lie.
It was obviously Xornoth's fault, right? He controlled Scott.
But was it not the fault of Lizzie's for throwing him off the cliff?
My mind is running around in circles like a toy train. And then, guilt.
Why didn't I stop Lizzie?
Why didn't I help Lizzie?
Why did I leave Joel?
How could I have let Xornoth do this?
It was like a pot of bubbling thoughts that I had been pushed into.
Intrusive ones at that.
But Joel...
He still was on my mind.
I had basically killed Joel.
If I had stepped up, maybe, just maybe he would have survived.
Why?
Why?
Why?
He was like a sibling to me. So many good memories would have gone down the drain.
*FLASHBACK*
"Jimmy, meet me at the foyer," he had said.
And now, I was looking in confusion at a little axolotl.
"What's its name?"
Joel had a smile playing on his lips.
"Stephanie,"
Stephanie?
I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"So we can have a meal with Stephanie?"
Our laughs echoed through the Matral Palace.
"A meal with Stephanie?" I asked, still choking with laughter.
He nodded, his eyes squeezed shut as he wheezed a laugh.
"That was amazing Joel!"
"It was, Jim. You're a little brother to me. I don't know what I would do without you..."
*END OF FLASHBACK*
I sighed longingly at the memory, a tear rolling down my cheek in realisation that we would never do that again.
Fairly recent to that memory, our two true loves had made a 'Deal with Destiny' as they had liked to call it.
And Joel decided that we'd missed out on all the fun.
So he had reenacted that day.
And all I know is that from now on, that will be the best memory that I have had in my entire life.
