chapter 6

"Do you feel any better?" Danielle asked Haerin who kept frowning after she stretched her legs to relax her cramping muscles

"Yes, thanks." She replied coldly

"Good. I don't want you acting like a fool later knowing we're against Kazuha's team," Danielle says as she sighed and stood up.

"What did you just say?" Haerin released a loud scoff, "You're so annoying do you know that?"

"You should try looking in the mirror to see who's more annoying," Danielle retorted

Haerin grimaced, "Why are you like this? You were being nice the last time,"

"Just because I said I don't hate you doesn't mean we have to act buddy-buddy towards one another," said Danielle

Haerin rolled her eyes, "Who approached me just now to help with my cramping muscles, huh?"

Danielle stiff up, "T-that's because I want you to be in a great condition before your match with Kazuha."

"You're bullshitting, just say you want to see me suffer upclose." Haerin raised up from her seat, surprisingly, her tensed muscles felt loosened after Danielle's help but she didn't say anything

Danielle remained quiet, after a few seconds they were joined by Hanni who's studying Danielle with her sharp eyes

"Want me to back you up Haerin?" She asked, still eating the popcorn she bought earlier

Haerin turn to her with an irritated expression,"Back me up with what?"

"Oh we're not going to bury her alive? I see," Hanni walked away after that

And Danielle who seems to heard what she said remained unbothered.

Mr. Jeon whistled four times which means practice's done and they'll get to rest for ten minutes before the actual game starts.

Kazuha vs Haerin's team.

Her teammates approaches her and that includes Minji, Danielle and Kai.

Since she is the captain, she assigned Minji, Kai, herself, Jake and Yuna to play. Her other teammates get to rest for the whole game which seems like a good news for them except for Danielle who gets to rest on the bench

"This is not fair, why don't I get to play?" Danielle huffed

Haerin took a deep breath before answering, "Because you suck at playing,"

"Take that back you bookworm!" Danielle pointed at her face while Haerin acted like she's going to bite it causing the other girl to retreat

Minji hushed the both of them, "You can switch with me by the next round,"

Danielle contemplated but when Minji nods she agreed.

"Why didn't I became Kazuha's teammate? I would've love to crush your dumbass," Danielle whispered to Haerin which made the girl chuckle

"You can't even shoot a single shot, how would you crush me?" Haerin inquired, raising her brow in expectation

Danielle looks away, "Forget it!"

Haerin smirks, "That's what I thought," Then walked off

"You guys know we're still here right?" Minji giggled, "You two act like lovers,"

The others nods their head in unison but the two didn't acknowledged that

After ten minutes of bickering between Danielle and Haerin, Mr Jeon whistled three times which means the game will start and they have to get into their positions

"Goodluck Minji," Danielle cheered for her friend, she glanced at Haerin just as quick and the girl had a serious expression spreading across her face

"Loosen up, Kang." Kai cheered for her before running in the middle of the court

A 5v5 game. This isn't really the first time they get to play, but it is the first time with Kazuha.

Knowing that athletic monster. Haerin's not quite sure if they can even win this game but it wouldn't hurt to try right?

Mr Jeon whistled, Kai slapped the ball towards Minji's direction, the girl dribbled her way to the other side of the court but she was stopped by Kazuha's teammate, she believe her name is Ryujin.

Minji faked a move, and when the other girl jumped, she ran to the other side and jumped in the three-point field, the ball circled the rim before it completely fell on the hoop.

That's three points for Haerin's team. They ran back to the other side, Kazuha gets to have the ball this time. Haerin boldly steps forward to get the ball but knowing how fast Kazuha is she failed.

They're tied to 3.

The game continues. No one switched, they're all drenching in sweat. Their face are reddening from the heat and Haerin could feel her calves cramping again.

The game was so intense. Yuna got the ball now. She dribbled calmly, trying to calculate her moves in order to successfully shoot it.

She made eye contact with Haerin, and the both of them knew what to do.

Yuna passed the rotating ball to Haerin, the girl grinned and caught it. Once it reached her fingers, everything became automatic. Not a single thought crossed her mind after her eyes caught on the red hook at the back of the rim.

Haerin hurries forward, she leaped, her right arm launched the ball upward, arching towards the basket. It was a movement she had practiced thousands of times. Over and over, she learned to recognize a perfect release from that was not.

So why?

Why is she falling down in a critical position after Kazuha blocked her vision hastily?

Haerin prepared for the loud impact, there was a thud that came from her back meeting the floor as she closed her eyes waiting for the pain to reach her brain and for her to scream for help

Instead of hearing her wail for help all everyone could hear is Danielle rushing and furiously yelling at Mr Jeon and Kazuha

"It's foul! Did you not see that? She blocked Haerin's vision! You were not being slick Kazuha, I saw it with my own eyes!" Danielle was in pure rage and nobody knows why

Is it because they lost? Or is it because Haerin is seriously injured?

"Do not fucking touch me, nobody touch me! What the hell would you do if she fell on her head?"

And that basically confirms what everyone's thinking
