chapter 24

If the Ancient of Days is put in a position of losing an eternal team, then it is End Times. This means, that, for that reality, time will end before the team is lost. The originals are too valuable to lose. Without the eternal teams to fix what is broken there is no life at all, no creation, nothing

Danielle flinched when Kai wrapped his jacket around her. She smiled sadly, showing her gratitude

"I bought coffee, I figured you might want to talk about it." said Kai as he handed her cup

"Haerin got diagnosed with cancer. Her symptoms appeared rapidly. Kai, we both know we have a year to relive our best moments together so why... why did this has to happen? It's my fault isn't it? You tried to warn me but I was impatient and impulsive, I should have listened to you," Danielle covered her mouth, trying to muffle the sobs she couldn't stop

Kai's shoulders slumped back, his eyes became teary, "It's my fault. I shouldn't have brought you here in the first place, I don't know what I was thinking."

"Can we fix this?" Danielle inquired in a hopeful manner, however, she was disappointed when Kai shakes his head

"I'm afraid we have to let the year pass by before we could," He answered

"Do you not grow old when you jump time?" She sniffs, wiping her tears and sipping on the coffee which became as cold as her shaking hands

"I have no idea,"

There was a complete utter of silence where they tried to be at ease but for some reason they cannot.

Kai shifts towards Danielle as he took a pen out, he draw a line on his palm and glanced at her while the latter simply observes

"This line represents the normal flow of events here's where you met Haerin," He pointed at the beginning of the line, "Here's where you guys began catching feelings," He pointed at the middle, "And here's the present,"

"And here's the night we traveled back in time, and continued our lives like we're at the right timeline," Kai drew a circle in between the beginning and the middle of the line

Danielle nods her head as Kai continues, "We both know you failed to follow the one rule of time travel and that is we cannot alter the past. You did so many things that changed the course of yours and Haerin's history causing the timeline to skew off into an alternate tangent where Haerin suddenly got diagnosed with cancer,"

"Maybe the reason why is because I rushed it, don't you think so?" asked Danielle

Kai bit his lip as he looks away, "This is much harder than I thought it could ever be. It was never this painful when I was alone."

Her tears came as if her pain had at last condensed into a deluge of rain.

"What are you going to do now?" He queries

"I'll be with her of course... I'll stay by her side, watch her go from being lively and energetic to sickly and limp." She choked on her own words, "We'll experience it together for the second time, Kai. How much long do we have to suffer like this?"

Kai messed his hair, taking deep breaths while trying to ignore Danielle's excruciating cries

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Dani."
