RICK KICKED THE leaves from the fallen sign, each of them crowding around it.

"We're gettin' close." Daryl glanced at the map briefly. "Be there before sundown."

"Now we head through the woods. We don't know who they are." The Grimes man planned.

"Alright." Daryl led first. They walked through the trees up to a chain length fence.

It was safe to say Terminus was a large compound, with many blind spots. It was also entirely empty, with no one outside and no noise coming from it.

"We all spread out, watch for a while, see what we see, and get ready." Rick glanced through the fence again. "We all stay close."

Daryl glanced to his daughter who subtly nodded, silently telling him she was okay, before he turned and walked off.

"You wanna stick with me?" The Grimes man asked his son.

Carl hesitated. "It's alright, I was gonna go with Ellie. Right, El?"

"Yeah, let's go." She played along until they got out of earshot. "Carl, what's on your mind?"

"It's just..." He trailed off. "Nothing."

Ellie stopped walking, grabbing his arm gently. "You can talk to me, okay? You can."

"I've done so much stuff, Ellie. Bad stuff." Carl finally caved. "I-I killed my mom, and I killed that boy. I'm no different then the walkers. I kill cause I can. Dad said he was proud of me, but I know better. I'm not what he things I am. I'm a monster, Ellie. A monster."

The Dixon girl brought her hand to his face, brushing his long hair out of the way of his piercing blue eyes. "I am too. I've done things that I'm not proud of. I butchered that guy last night, for Christs sake. But, we can't let that define us. We aren't the things we do to survive. And, for the record, I think you're amazing, despite what has happened to us."

Carl smiled softly at her, pulling her in for a hug. Ellie wrapped her arms around him easily, her chin resting on his shoulder as he was now a few inches taller than her. After a moment, she pulled away.

"Come on, we have to scout this place out. They could be freakos for all we know." The brunette joked lightly, Carl chuckled as they stepped away.
