THE SUN FELL quickly, leaving the group to wander in the dark while gripping each other's hands.

Ellie kept her cool, walking in between Carl and Ron smoothly. The walkers would look at him, stumbled over and take a sniff before stumbling away.

However, right when Ellie thought they had a system down, Sam stopped walking. He let go of Rick's hand and stared at the passing herd with shuddering breaths.

"Sam?" Jessie shook his hand to snap him out of his daze. "Come on. Come on. Sweetheart? Sam?" The boy scrunched his face up like he was going to cry.

"You can do it." Rick encouraged him, holding his hand back out. "You can do it."

"Yes. Yes you can." Jessie nodded along, the anxiety growing in her voice. "Sam? Sam, come on."

"Come on, Sam." Rick jerked out of the way of a passing walkers.
"Sam? Hey, you can do this." Ron whispered over Ellie's shoulder. "Sam, just look at mom."

"Honey, you can do it." Jessie's voice shook. "Honey, your gonna get-" She cut herself off quickly, but the boy knew what she was going to say. He couched softly, his tears falling free from his eyes.

"Sam, honey, I need you to come with me." The Anderson woman continued to urge. Sam cried, whimpering softly with incoherent words.

"I need you to come with me." Jessie repeated.

Sam took a deep breath. "I want to."

"I need you to be strong." Jessie pulled him gently.

"Sam-" Ron tried. Suddenly, a walker pounced on him, biting his shoulder harshly. Another grabbed his face and took a large bite out of his head.

"Mom!" Sam screamed in pain as he was taken to the ground.

"Sam! Sam, no!" Jessie sobbed loudly, still holding her boys hand tightly, even after his yells of pain halted.

"Mom? M-mom?" Ron blinked, a dazed and confused look washing over his face. A walker pulled it's head back, fresh skin and blood spreading across its jaw. Jessie screamed.

"Jessie?" Carl panted.

"Jessie. Jessie." Rick grabbed her wrist, freeing her hand from her sons. The woman continued to cry.
