Hope is a crucial part of war, without hope you are guaranteed to lose. Maria has never had trouble hoping for better, but with more and more of their people dead or dying every day it's difficult to see past all the destruction and loss. It's hard to think about a future, good or bad, without all those people lost around experiencing it with them.

Regulus' knee bounces up and down nervously as he looks at the pale green hospital wall. His hand is intertwined with Maria's as she rests her temple on his shoulder. Mary had insisted that they go to an appointment at a muggle hospital so that Maria can eventually deliver her baby there where it is safer, like Lily and Alice did.

Maria smiles slightly at Regulus' nervous state, gently tracing her thumb across his knuckles and linking her arm under his.

"Nervous?" Maria mutters and Regulus rolls his eyes. "I was thinking. . .about names. I thought maybe it would be nice to name them after a star or constellation like you and Sirius. But I know it's sort of your family's thing so—"

"No, that's perfect, Ria." Regulus smiles, pressing a kiss on top of her head.

A few moments later, they're called into the room and Maria is lay on the chair, Regulus sat on a seat beside her whilst the nurse speaks to them. They used the excuse of having just moved to the area as a reason to why they've never been seen there before and the nurse (Samantha) had bought it completely and wrote down her name and some other details in a folder.

"Alright, it's gonna be a little cold." The blonde nurse says with a small smile as she squirts the gel onto Maria's abdomen. Maria lets out a small giggle at the coolness on her stomach and Regulus smiles in awe at the sight of her. His hand wraps around hers as Samantha begins to move the ultrasound across her stomach.

"Holy shit." Regulus whispers as he and Maria watch the screen, seeing the faint outline of a baby curled up. Regulus rests his elbows on the side of her bed, pressing a kiss to her knuckles as the two nineteen year olds stare at the screen in awe. Maria looks at her boyfriend and smirks slightly at his watery eyes. "Something in my eye." He shakes his head, moving her knuckle in his hands to wipe his eyes.

Maria lets out a small laugh, glancing back to their baby and longs to finally meet them. The nurse hands them a picture as Regulus gently wipes the gel from her stomach and Maria stares at the photo with a small smile.

"I like the name Nova." Regulus says as they walk out of the hospital room, hand in hand. "For a girl."

Maria smiles up at him, "me too." She nods. "I never thought we'd be having such a normal conversation."

"Yeah, speaking of not normal conversations." Regulus starts with a sigh. "I gave the locket to Kreacher to keep safe, just until we can find a way to destroy it." Maria nods her head, knowing that it's the best thing to do. "I was thinking maybe dropping you at Godric's Hollow, Moody wants me to help him look into some wizards spotted at a muggle killing."
