𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘 reached out with a deep sense of desperation, his screams and pleads echoing 'round the forest as another struggled with dragging him in the opposite direction. "Sabito! Please! Plea-"
"Make sure to get Giyuu far away from here." the orangette ordered.
The ginger haired male he'd pleaded towards gestured for the other to continue dragging the boy away before swiftly turning and following after another scream. "Sabito!" The injured boy's raspy cries were brushed off as Sabito continued forward.
The orange haired boy was nowhere near after that, the little black haired boy known as Giyuu, still sobbing in the unknown boy's arms, only to suddenly freeze upon the feeling of a hand gently ruffling his hair.
"No need to fret. I'll make sure he comes out of this alive." an unfamiliar voice had uttered, monotonously, almost as if they didn't care whether their words were upheld or not. Suddenly they were gone, the feeling of their skin against his scalp dissipated, the boy never got to see them, only hear their dull voice.

Soon enough, Sabito found himself before a giant demon, tens of hands wrapped around its body and protectively sheltering its neck. It giggled, mentioning his mask that'd been gifted to him by his teacher. He scowled, pique filling his adolescent body.
Jolting forward, Sabito launched himself into the air, avoiding the tens of hands that reached for his figure. He landed on one of the demon's outstretched arms, bounding towards its neck, katana raised. The demon allowed an atrocious giggle to slip from its lips, one of its hands covering its mouth, its eyes scrunching in amusement.
A stream of water thickly gyrated from his blade, following as Sabito rushed at his target.
Last one.
Before his blade came in contact with the creature's neck, he found himself blown backwards by a sudden exertion of force.
A deafening explosion that lit the night with colored patterns.
Bright colored hues of seemingly liquified flames flew out from the collision, falling in a mesmerizing manner, yet wreaking havoc upon the neck of the demon.
The demon felt a hot, searing pain stab into the left side of its neck before sliding through with the ease of slicing through butter. His skin coiled upwards, bubbling up in blisters and charring, the rest bloody and raw.
Fireworks.
The demon expressed the excruciating pain it'd just experienced, shrieking inhumanly as dark colored ash wafted from its severed head, tears rolling down its face, its body now crumbling. Footsteps slowly padded up beside Sabito who sat against a tree, covering his ears.
"Hey, you okay?" a lackluster inquiry met his ears, two slightly smaller hands prying his from his lobes. His lavender optics were wide, anxiously darting to look at the person who cut into his fight, unknowing that they were his savior.
The person crouched beside him, an oversized haori resting upon their shoulders, firework patterns climbing up the fabric. They wore a plain, black kimono, tucked into black hakama pants flaring out at the bottom; hovering above their wooden geta sandals and white zori socks. There was a scabbard lodged underneath their obi belt, a katana hastily shoved inside.
The person adorned (h/c) locks/hijab, their (e/c) apertures sternly glaring at the boy, their lips pulled into a small scowl. The person looked young, likely younger than himself.
"U-uhm, yeah. I'm just fine... Uh, what's your name? And how old are you?" he'd questioned, genuinely curious. The person hesitantly released his wrists, sending a quick glance over to the disintegrating demon before turning their attention back to the boy.
"My name is (y/n).... You don't need my last- uh, I mean surname." (y/n) coughed, attempting to cover their mess up. "And uh... I think I'm eleven..."
"....You think-?"
"Oh my go- Just shut up!" they snapped, irked.
Sabito raised his hands in surrender, bewildered. "Fine, fine. No need to yell."
(y/n) merely glared at him with a sneer before standing, brushing their haori free of potential dust and grime. "Come on, Giyuu is worried for you-" they paused, realizing their mistake in which Sabito somehow didn't catch on to.
"You know Giyuu? Oh! I didn't introduce myself, I'm Sabito." the boy claimed, his new companion restraining themselves from saying something along the lines of 'I know'. "I'm thirteen, meaning I'm two years older than you!"
"Yeah, I can count, dumbass." (y/n) huffed, walking away with an offended teen following after. There were two reasons (y/n) joined the final selection, one, they needed to save Sabito, by killing the hand demon so Makomo could keep her life as well. And well, if they wanted to save the others, then it'd be much easier as a demon slayer.
