"Mama!" Maekar smiled, hurrying over to his mother. Elaera picked him up but her lilac eyes (the eyes Daemon loved) were on Daemon. "Kepa's back!"

"I can see it." Elaera murmured. "Do you want to have breakfast with us, or sleep?"

"I'll have breakfast with you." the Prince of the City said weakly, very much out of his depth. He followed his wife to the dinning room, listening to his son babble on about his friends with the servant's children and other little things.

Elaera greeted and thanked the servants who had set up the table warmly, and they bowed back.

"How have you been, Elaera?" he inquired in High Valyrian.

"Raising your son as a single mother is hard, but I was very lucky to have my friends and family." the lilac eyed princess said in the common tongue. Refusing to speak in High Valyrian, as they had often done.

"I'm sorry—"

Something flashed in Elaera's eyes and she exploded, standing up.

"You left me! Alone and in love you with, carrying your child! You left in the middle of the night, no word, no note, nothing! I had to protect myself from lordlings who wanted to marry me and to protect my son!" the Ruby Dragon snarled.

Maekar only watched his newly returned father and beloved mother with wide eyes.

"I left because I couldn't stand the thought of being there if you died from childbirth, if your father annulled our marriage! I ran because I was a coward and couldn't stand the court, and I didn't want to drag you away from everyone you loved!"

"Then you could have—"

"Stop it." Maekar shrieked. "Can't you let it go?"

Daemon and Elaera paused. The Lady of the Midnight Fortress picked up her son with ease.

"We will." the Silver Princess murmured, holding him close.

She looked at her uncle-husband. For Maekar. her eyes conveyed the silent message.

The Rogue Prince nodded. For Maekar.

That is today's chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it!
