CHAPTER 52

Kumunot ang noo niya nang makita ang mahigpit nitong paghawak sa kamay ni Nami.

Damn it. Rei bit her lip and tried look away pero pinigilan niya ang sarili niya. Mahahalata nitong naapektuhan pa din siya. So she stayed where she was and mustered her poker face.

Masyadong masaya ang mukha ni Vi. Its as if she was her savior.

"I love you, Rei. You made me realize things and I'll never forget them. Thank you for being my knight in shining armour."

Damn it. Rei closed her eyes tightly nang maalala ang sinabi nito noon sa kanya. Her heart started to beat crazily again. Bakit ganun pa din ang epekto nito sa kanya? Kaya niya bang makatrabaho ito? Knowing that she still had a small voice in the back of her mind, attracted to Violet De Silva?

But she knew that Vi is doing a good job in her company. Alam niya ang reputasyon na meron ito sa ibang kumpanya na nakatrabaho na nito. Yet, she knew that Vi had a reason she doesn't want to work with all those companies. She made some digging and hired people to investigate why. It turns out that Wildflowers Realtors are not compensated enough.

Akala niya ay tatanggapin lang nito iyon. But there are changes in Vi's personality too. She was more aassertive and a flirt apparently. Kanina niya pa napapansin na panay ang ngiti at pakikipag flirt nito kay Nami.

Rei stood up nang makitang papalapit na sa kanya ang apat. The whole room is empty except for the five of them. Pinaalis na din kasi ni Nami ang ibang developer na hindi nila kinuha ang serbisyo.

Nami led Violet and her partners towards her. Rei put a hand to her pocket para maitago ang panginginig ng mga kamay niya. Pero hindi niya maikakaila na ang lakas ng tibok ng puso niya. She's afraid that Vi will hear it.

"Ms Montefalco." Vi flashed her a smile and Rei got a flashback to the time her 'Lila' smiled at her that way.

She cleared her throat and tried to smile but she felt like she looked like she was constipated. Kaya mabilis niyang inalis ang ngiti sa mga labi niya. She pursed her lips instead.

"Ms De Silva."

Nami looked at them back and forth. Pati na ang mga kasama nito ay nagtataka. Vi smiled at her associates.

"Uhmm...Magkakilala kayo, Mam?"

Vi looked like she doesn't want to answer it. Siguro dahil iniisip nitong inappropriate na ito ang magsalita tungkol sa bagay na iyon. Rei doesn't want to talk about it too. So she'll save them the trouble and opened her mouth.

"Nabasa ko ang tungkol sa kumpanya nila, Nami. So I knew her name."

Tumingin ito sa kanya na tila hindi makapaniwala sa sinabi niya.

Rei tilted her head slightly. Mali ba siya ng akala? Gusto ba nitong sabihin niyang mag ex sila?

Vi forced a smile. Tumango tango pa ito. "Y-Yeah. Nabasa ko din ang profile ng company niyo and knows that it Ms Reilliene Montefalco was the CEO."

"Glad to be working with you, Ms De Silva."

Rei took her hands out of her pocket for a handshake. Kumabog ang dibdib niya nang titigan iyon ni Vi. Akala niya ay mangangalay siya sa pag antay ng kamay nito but Vi reached out and touched her hands.

Lalo atang dumoble ang tibok ng puso niya. Her hands had also suddenly become cold. Bakit ganun pa rin ang epekto nito? Bakit ang init pa din ng mga palad nito? Like it was the comfort and warmth she had been missing for the past years. Like her favourite blanket wrapping her up when it's cold outside.

She jolted nang bawiin na nito ang kamay sa kanya. Rei suddenly missed the warmth Vi's hands brought her.

"Thank you for the opportunity, Ms Montefalco."

"The pleasure is mine."

Vi smirked at that and Rei realized the meaning behind her words. Nag init ang mukha niya. She quickly turned around. Hindi niya na kayang tingnan si Vi dahil sa tuwing nakikita niya ang mukha nito ay naalala niya ang nangyari sa kanila noon.

"Nami. Please take the contract and I'll sign it. Ipadala mo na lang sa office nina Ms De Silva."

"Yes, Mam."

Hindi na siya lumingon pa at deri-deritso siyang lumabas sa conference room. Her heart was beating loud again. Damn it!

Mali ata ang desisyon niyang ito ang kunin. Why did she have to choose Vi's company? She could have gone to her second option.

She closed and opened her hands. Her right hand shook Vi's hands. Ganun pa din ba ang amoy nito? Like a fresh sunrise and sunflowers? Wala sa sariling inamoy niya ang kamay niya.

And Rei couldn't help but smile. Some things never changed.

"Have you given them the details for the building they are supposed to develop?"

Rei turned her swivel chair around and played with her lips. Ilang araw na ang lumipas but she couldn't help but think about her interaction with Vi. Ilang araw na din siyang hindi pumupunta sa mga meeting na kailangan dapat siya. Instead, she tasked Nami with it.

Tinitigan niya ang secretary niya and she saw how Nami blushed.

Kumunot ng noo niya. Bakit ito nag b-blush? Unless... Naningkit ang mga mata niya.

Is Vi mixing business with pleasure? Hindi niya maintindihan kung bakit naiinis siya sa isiping iyon. She took a calming breath and massaged her temple. Sumasakit ang ulo niya. Hindi ba alam ng mga ito na dito nakasalalay ang buong kumpanya nila? Is Vi not taking it serious?

"Y-Yes, Mam."

"I'll see the blue print personally. You don't have to come Nami. Ayusin mo na lang ang schedule ko dito sa office." Tumayo siya at pinigilan niya ang sarili na irapan ang secretary niya.

"I'll go to their office, now." And tell Vi to stop flirting with my secretary and be professional.

Kunot pa rin ang noo na kinuha niya ang bag niya at lumabas na ng office niya.

"Pero, M-Mam----"

Hindi niya na ito nilingon. She just waved her hands dismissively. Dumiretso siya sa elevator. She took her phone out nang marinig ang message tone.

Nakagat niya ang labi niya nang makita ang message ni Emma. Why did she forgot to message her girlfriend?

'Baby... how are you I hope you are doing well there. I'm sorry pero mukhang ma-e-extend pa ang stay ko dito ng isang buwan. Gusto nilang mag bonding kami after the wedding. I really wanna take you but there's no one who would attend to our company. I wish you are here.'

Rei made a quick message. 'Hi, baby. Sorry... I forgot to text you this past few weeks. I'm a little bit busy. It's ok. Don't worry about me. I can manage.'

Then she hit the sent button.

She sighed. Why is she feeling jealous about Vi and Nami flirting? She's the one who should be professional lalo na sa pakikipag deal sa ex-girlfriend niya. Emma doesn't know anything about Lila.

But anyway since she already told her secretary that she would go to Vi's office ay gagawin niya na lang. There's no running away. She must face it head on and try to sort her feeling out. Hindi porke't feeling niya noon ay naiwan siya sa ere without a proper goodbye ay may feelings pa din siya dito.

She inhaled deeply and exhaled a breath. Handa siyang harapin ito kahit pa ganun pa din ang tibok ng puso niya pagdating dito.
