CHAPTER 56

After the whole incident at Lila's house. Rei tried her best to become professional. Isinasama niya na si Nami sa mga lakad niya kapag makikita niya si Lila so she could guard herself well. Ayaw niyang magkaroon sila ng moment na silang dalawa lang dahil nakikita niya sa mga actions nito na gusto siya nitong ma-solo.

So why the hell is she jealous now that Nami and Lila are talking to each other and giggling among themselves? Bakit parang umiiwas na din ito sa kanya ngayon?

Kunot ang noo na bumaling siya sa dalawa at nakita niya ang saglit na tingin na ibinigay sa kanya ni Lila. And Nami also noticed her looking. Kaya dumistansiya na ito sa secretary niya.

She cleared her throat. Ayaw niya namang maging obvious but damn it! Parang may sariling mundo ang dalawa and it was making her irritable. O baka dahil mainit lang ang office niya dahil sira ang aircon?

"Tapos na ba kayong dalawa?"

Her voice was a little bit higher so she cleared her throat and look towards the blue print that the two isn't giggling about.

"T-Tapos na poi, Mam."

After that Nami stood up straighter and quickly scurried away. Kita niya ang takot na lumarawan sa mukha nito.

She saw a smirk appear on Lila's lips. Pagkatapos nun ay sumandal ito sa swivel chair nito sa loob ng office niya. Rei's left eyebrow rose up. Bakit ang pilya ng ngiti nito sa kanya? May nakakatawa ba sa sinabi niya?

She looked over Lila's shoulder and frowned.

"There's something wrong with the design."

Lila looked at her before turning to the blue print. Inikot pa nito ang blue print at tinitigan iyon. "I did exactly as you said."

Kumunot ang noo niya. Then she leaned in to point to it. "Here. The benches and the garden should be a little closer to the pool para yung mga nag papahinga ay pwedeng maupo sa garden."

Sa sinabi niya ay lumingon ito. To Rei's surprise, Lila's face is close and they would almost kiss kung hindi lang siya bahagyang lumayo. Lila smirked again.

Napaingos siya. Lila was always smirking sa tuwing nagtatama ang mga mata nila. Sana ay maihipan ito ng hangin. But she doubts if Lila would become ugly dahil doon.

Iniwas niya na lang ang tingin dito. She couldn't concentrate dahil sa kakangiti nito sa kanya.

"So anong gagawin mo diyan?"

"Eh di ano pa ba Mam Montefalco? I'll revise it so you'll have the pleasure of working with us again."

Pleasure? Imagination niya lang ba o talagang madiin ang pag kakasabi nito sa salitang iyon?

Kumabog ang dibdib niya. Why is her heart getting excited with what Lila was intending with that words? She cleared her throat and backed away. Hindi siya pwedeng matukso dahil hindi lang ang relasyon niya ang nakataya kung hindi ang puso niya. She doesn't want to be let down again dahil lang umasa siya.

"Fixed it and we'll see kung ano pang pwedeng gawin. The owners would want a meeting with us soon. Kaya gawan mo nang paraan yan."

Ngingiti ngiting binilog nito ang blue print at ipinasok iyon sa tube. Tumayo ito at muling ngumiti. Lila bowed her head one last time before going out of her office.

Hindi niya na ito tiningnan hanggang sa makalabas ito sa office niya dahil baka hilain niya lang din ito pabalik.

Rei sat on the chair holding the center of her chest. Damn it. Ganun pa din ang epekto nito sa kanya. Is she losing herself again? She put a hand to her head and banged her head once on the table.

"Nababaliw na nga ata ako." She furstratedly messed her hair up.

Just before she could have another break down. Her phone started buzzing. She reached for it and groaned nang makita kung kaninong number iyon. It was from their investor. Everything wasn't yet ready. Anong sasabihin niya dito?

She inhaled and exhaled before she pressed the button. "Hello, Sir?"

"Hello Ms Montefalco. I want to request an audience with your team. The documents are ready I presume?"

Kumabog ang dibdib niya. What should she say? Sasabihin niya ba ang totoo o mag sisinungaling dito?

"U-Uhmm..."

"Well?"

This is the client that invested heavily on their small company and she doesn't want to let Mr. Lee down.

"M-Maayos na sir."

"Then I guess you'll be ready for the next week? I want to have a business meeting with the real estate developer and with your company as well."

Shit. Rei bit her lip and looked at the giant calendar installed on her office. There is exactly 3 days before the business meeting. Should she sped things up and request for Lila's team to accompany them.

"Nami?"

Rei didn't look up from the document she was reading when she called her secretary because she was still upset about earlier. Baka kung anong gawin niya kay Nami kapag nakita niya ito.

"Y-Yes, Mam?"

"Could you call, Ms De Silva for me. I need to speak with her."

"O-Ok po."

Rei sighed when she heard Nami's retreating footsteps outside of her office. Bakit kapag kay Emma madaming umaaligid na babae't lalake ay hindi siya na-b-bother? Bakit pag dating kay Lila she's becoming territorial? Ano bang problema niya? May gusto pa ba talaga siya ditto? It's been 6 years already. Bakit hindi niya magawang makalimutan ito? Should she seek closure?

Napasabunot siya sa buhok niya.

No. Closure is out of the question. Wala na dapat silang pag usapan pa dahil ito ang nang iwan at hindi siya.

"Mam. Ms De Silva is on the phone po."

Nami handed her the phone without looking at her. Rei sighed. Dapat hindi siya magalit ditto.

"Thank you Nami."

Sa narinig ay tumingin ito sa kanya na tila gulat. Rei smiled. Nami made an effort to smile too at dali daling umalis sa harap niya.

She shook her head and put the phone on her right ear. Next time she would be careful na hindi mahahalata ng ibang tao ang nararamdaman niya.

"Hello?"

"Kakagaling ko lang diyan. You missed me that much?"

Rei stops herself from rolling her eyes. There it was again that flirty tone. "No. Tumawag ang investor at gustong mag request ng audience sa atin."

"Oh."

"Yes. We only have 3 days to finalize the designs and show the progress to Mr Lee. Kaya sasamahan mo ako sa location bukas."

"Ok."

Rei couldn't help but smile sa nahimigan sa tono nito. Disappointment was laced on Lila's voice. Lila wears her heart on her sleeve at yun ang isa din siguro sa nagustuhan niya dito.

Wait--- No. She shook her head. Hindi dapat yun ang iniisip niya. Right now they need to finish this project dahil nakasalalay ditto ang maliit nilang kumpanya. As well as Lila's.

"See you tomorrow. My secretary will send you the details mamaya kung anong oras kayo pupunta at kung saan tayo mag kikita."

Hindi na ito sumagot sa sinabi niya. Akala niya ay pinatay na nito ang tawag dahil wala siyang marinig sa kabilang linya. But when she looked at the phone ay umaandar pa din iyon. Kaya naman siya na ang kusang pumatay.

May sasabihin pa ba ito?
