Christmas Eve

Justin's POV

I know it's stupid but I've barely slept all night, I'm too excited. Christmas never really used to be a thing for me, especially after I lost my family it's always been a difficult holiday. Since meeting and falling in love with Ari that's changed, it's now my favorite holiday and I've always wanted to spend it in a cabin with my baby. I check the time, it's 5am..is it too early to wake Ari? I just wanna get on the road and get there.

Me*whispering*: Babe...babe..

I softly kiss her, she kisses me back a little

Me*still whispering*: Baby...Ari
Ari*sleepy voice*: Whaaatt?
Me: Can we get up now so we can leave?
Ari*falling back to sleep*: ...leave..for...
Me: Baby cmon you can sleep in the car all you gotta do is tell me the address then you can go back to sleep
Ari*sleepy but waking up*: What where..hm? What?
Me: The cabin babe
Ari: Oh yea..wait what time is it?
Me: 5am I know it's early but we can beat the traffic and then wake up properly in our new home for the next 10 days
Ari: 5am?!

She could see the excitement I was struggling to hide

Ari: Ugh fine

She gets up and changes into warm cozy clothes, I do the same and take the bags downstairs and into the car. Ari follows me passing me a piece of paper with the address written on it. I see her putting something in one of the bags but I assume it's something she needs and doesn't wanna forget.
Before I know it Ari is in the cars front seat curled up with a blanket over her already going back to sleep.
I double check we have everything and put the last minute things in the car then get in putting the zip code and address into the navigation system. 2hr drive, not too bad. I turn the key and start driving to our Christmas cabin.
The 2hrs went by pretty quick and before I know it I'm pulling into the driveway and parking up

Me: Babe..babe wake up we're here
Ari: Huh?
She rubs her eyes
Me: We're here baby

She yawns an stretches as she realizes where she is, I get out getting our bags out then open her door. She gets out smiling

Ari: Wow it's perfect it's better than the pictures
Me: cmon let's get inside out the cold

I get the key out the keypad safety box by putting the code In which was on the same paper as the address and go inside. It's beautiful...but freezing

Me: I'll get the fire started

I go over to the fire and put some logs on it striking a match and lighting it. It doesn't take long until the heat radiates into the rest of the cabin.

It been a few hours since we arrived, Ari unpacked everything while I cooked breakfast we're now just chilling watching Christmas movies sipping hot chocolate.

I gaze at Ari smiling while she watches the movie, she catches my gaze and smirks

Ari: What?
Me: Nothing just realizing how lucky I am to have you and the life we have and stuff
Ari: Awwh baby

She cuddles into me and carries on watching the movie. I see Ari start to fall asleep...again so I softly get up and put a blanket over her. I check the time and it's almost 2pm...I sigh. I get she's tired and we were up early but I was the one who drove here, I haven't slept as much as she has in fact I haven't slept at all since we got up at 5.
I'm not wasting my day, I grab my phone, money, coat and snow boots and leave. I don't know where I'm going but there's gotta be a bar somewhere around here, I search "bars and restaurants near me" on my google maps. The nearest one is over a mile away, ah well the walk in the fresh frozen air will do me good.

I finally get to the bar and sit down on the barstool

Bar guy: Hi what can I get you?
Me: Uh can I get a beer
Guy: Sure

I smile surprised he didn't ask for ID but I'm not complaining, he puts it in front of me as I pay.

Guy: Haven't seen your face in here before and I know everyone around here
Me: Yeah we're here for the holidays
Him: We?
Me: Yea me and my fiancé
Him: Oh where is she...he?

I smirk

Me: She and she's back at the cabin asleep

I roll my eyes as I take a drink of my beer

Him: I'm Derek by the way

He holds out his hand

Me: Justin

I shake it, I start talking to Derek and tell him about how Ari and I met

Ari's POV
I wake up on the couch and rub my eyes checking the time, 4pm? Damn I slept a long time. I sit up excepting to see Justin, but nothing. I get up with the blanket wrapped around me

Me: Babe?...

I walk around the cabin still sleepy

Me: Baby? Where are you?

I look everywhere, he's definitely not in the cabin I sigh and sit back on the couch. It's Christmas Eve and I'm sitting here alone and I don't even know where my fiancé is...fabulous!

I've tried calling Justin at least 10 times but he hasn't answered so clearly whatever he is doing is much more important than answering me.
6pm comes around...then 7pm...I start getting worried, where is he? It's dark now he's never going to find his way back.

Just as I'm about to get up to go look for him the door opens and in stumbles Justin making a lot of noise

Justin: Shhhh...the princess is sleeping

I stand there glaring at him with my hands on my hips

Me: No the princess is wide awake and p***ed off
Justin: Oh don't even st-start it's your fault I w-went out in the first p-place *hiccup*
Me: My fault?!
Justin: Y-yeah all you do is sssleep, I had to go entertain myself *hiccup*
Me: Oh well I'm sorry I'm not entertaining enough! Am I not allowed to be tired?! Without me we wouldn't even be here, I was up till the early hours researching the perfect cabin for us for Christmas and then we were up at f**king 5am for no reason to come here. When I said we were leaving in the morning I meant at 8am maybe 7:30 at the earliest but nooo we had to get up at 5 because you're like an excited kid
Justin: Well escuuusssee me for being ex-x...that's a hard w-word to say..excited about wanting to spend my Christmas in a cabin *hiccup*
Me: You could have at least answered your phone so I knew you where safe

Justin shrugs

Me: Just go to bed
Justin: No..its o-only...

He stares at the clock on the wall trying to make sense of it

Me: I don't care, go to bed. I'll spend the rest of my Christmas Eve alone at least I'll have more fun

He stumbles up the stairs to bed, I hear him snoring within seconds and roll my eyes, Merry Christmas Eve to me.

I sit back on the couch and put another movie on to try an calm my mood, wonder what tomorrow is going to be like
