Why is this boy acting so cringey?

I wonder seeing Akash who is literally crying and whining at me. Today is the last day of school for me. All the exams are over including the primary and secondary classes. It would be summer vacation from tomorrow. It was the last exam for 10th stds and every students are dancing and howling tearing the question paper into pieces and throwing it in the air. But this boy is so sad.

"Maam naa inime ungala yaarayume paaka mudiyathula?" He asks me worried.

"Akash? Yen chinna pulla mathiri nadanthikura? You have to accept this. Unak ingaye thaa irukanum na.. Nee thirumba thirumba thaa 10th padikanum.. Vera vazhi illa.."

"Ada ponga maam" Akash pouts at me.

I chuckle and ruffle his hair. He gives a boyish smile.

"Naa 11th inga thaa padipen.. Neenga 11th la Physics edukringala?" He asks me as we walk to the entrance gate of the school.

"No Akash.. Naa 8th, 9th, 10th mattum thaa... But unak enna doubt irunthalum kelu... I will help you" I smile at him.

He grins.

"Apo bye miss paakalam" he says.

"Bye Akash..." I say and he walks to the cycle stand after smiling sadly.

I would really miss him. Akash is one of my favorite student. He is so passionate in my subject and he is very excited to learn physics. He is the only one who asks doubt in the class. I look at his retreating figure and sigh.

"Hi Sreedevi maam" I hear a voice beside me. I tilt my body to my left and find John sir smiling at me.

I smile slightly at him.

"Innai oda exams ellam mudinjuth.. Ini one month rest thaan" John sir says and only then I realise.

Its going to be summer vacation for one month and I dont know what excuse I am going to make to my parents if they invite me to Coimbatore. After marriage, I have only went to Coimbatore for a couple of times. One was for a common family friend's son's marriage and another one was for his great grandfather's death.

Ajay and I got married on Sep, 2017. I dont remember the date. But yeah and then moved to Chennai that month end. Last summer vacation was six months from marriage. So my parents didn't disturb me by inviting me to Coimbatore thinking that I would spend some quality time with my husband.

Thats not the only reason. I was going to school everyday and Ajay was working everyday. We didnt even had a honeymoon convincing them that we will have it later when Ajay's project completes. They assumed that the reason that I am not getting pregnant is because we both are always busy. So if I spend time with Ajay by not going for work, I may get pregnant, they thought and didn't ask me to go and spend time with them.

I dont have any problem going to Coimbatore if they were no people there. People! The most annoying thing ever. If I go to that place now, people over there would go on asking questions about marriage life and baby plans, ruining my mental peace.

"Maam?"

I come out of my trance hearing John sir. I look at him and smile when he smiles.

"Maam neenga intha sunday free ya?" He asks me and I wonder why he gotta ask me something like that.

"Yen kekuringa John sir?"

"Illa.. Naa sunday oru party vechurken..." He drags.

"Unga pullaik birthday ah sir??" I mock him.

His eyes widened in shock.

"No no no no.. Sreedevi maam... Enak innum kalyaname aagala.. I am single" He says in a urge.

"Ohh apdiya? naa kooda 2B padikra neha unga ponnu nu nenachen..  Ungaloda athe face cut" I suppress my laugh.

"Sreedevi maam... Enna patha 2nd std padikura pullaik appa mathiri irukka?" He asks me shocked.

"Lite ah" I smile sheepishly.

"Seri vidunga" he sighs "neenga partyk vareengala?"

"Ethuk intha party?"

"Illa.. Athu.. Athu vanth chumma thaan.. Namma staffs matum....  Summer Vacation la.. Athaa konjam relax aagalame nu" he says.

I nod my head.

"Neenga vareengala maam?"

"Illa actually Sunday I got plans sir.. I am sorry" I say.

Yeah yeah I got plans to waste the entire day. I am lying Ofcourse but yeah I would rather sit and read a whole book than partying with people.

Meanwhile John sir's face lost its colours.

"Enak time aayiduch sir.. Naa kelamburen" I say and walk to the gate when he nods at me.

My inner mind mocks at me.

I love Sreedevi for the past one year but I haven't even tried to convey my feelings even once. I somehow want to propose her and ask her for marriage as I am getting old and my mom is already pestering me to marry soon. I have to befriend her first and know whats in her mind. I was planning for this party proposal for the past one month but she destroyed it in seconds.

How will I approach her now? I have her number but she never picks calls even if I dial. Introverts are hard to deal I guess.

"John sir? Partyk dress code enna sir?"

I turn my headways and glare Mr. Mathew, chemistry teacher for 12th stds.

"Party lam illa ponga" I say a little angry.

"Enna sir? Ipdi sollitinga??" He looks at me confused.

"Ada poya.. Sreedevi maam vara mudiyathu nu sollitanga" I say sadly.

"Aiyo" He places his hand on my shoulder. He is the only one who knows about my love for Sreedevi.

"Intha chance use panni avunga kitta pesalam nu nenachen... Ana avunga varala.."

"John sir.. Sreedevi miss uk socialize panna pudikathu John sir... Avungaluk ethu pudikumo athu pannunga...." He says and I frown at him.

"Purila mathew sir"

"Haiyoo... Neenga gavanichirkeengela? Sreedevi miss epayume book padichit irupanga.. Avungaluk books romba pudikum.. " He throws his arm around my shoulder "Neenga enna pannunga... Avungaluk oru book vangi gift panirunga... Neengalum books padinga... Atha pathi pesunga.. Apdiye close ayiduvinga... Aprom enna kalyanam thaan" he hits my arm with his fist and I blush.

"Ok nalaike oru book vanguren" I say and Mathew sir teases me.

"Ok sir apo seekram kalyana pathrika vainga" he says and I action like hitting him. He runs away. I chuckle shaking my head and walk to the car parking. I smile like a loonatic at my car.

I should buy a bike. I smile to myself and start my car.
