"The memorization isn't an issue, I just can't get into the characters' heads at all," Caspian grumbled, complaining to Razzamatazz as he often did. He picked at his food, a caesar salad, agitatedly with a fork as he spoke. "I mean, they're what, thirteen? And willing to throw everything they have away because of some silly feelings. So it's hard to act the role," he sighed.
Razz, his best friend, sipped her drink while looking down. Hesitating just a bit, she said "You're not much older than that, so, maybe you can get it a little? Right?"
"Humph. I think Shakespeare just didn't understand teenagers. It's kind of insulting to be around the same age as these twits."
"I think Romeo and Juliet is a great story!" Razz gasped. "Shakespeare was a genius!"
"Then maybe you should be in the performing arts, and I'll pick up accessory design. It's gotta be more relevant to life than this," Cas sneered. He finally started eating his salad.
"But don't you have fun in your acting class?" Razz's voice was gentle. She gazed at Caspian with soft eyes, resting her head in one of her hands. "You get to mingle with people, and isn't communication kind of a science?"
Caspian laughed. "If there was a formula for acting, I would be top of the class right now." But his tone was more teasing than angry now. He paused, playing with the bracelet on his wrist, and then asked "how is your new focus going? Is accessory design... fun?" The word "fun" sounded foreign out of his mouth.
"Oh, yes."
Caspian waited for Razzamatazz to elaborate, but they didn't. She sipped her sweet raspberry tea and shifted in her chair as if she were nervous, glancing Cas's way every so often. After a while, Cas reached over and touched her upper arm in a soothing way.
"Is everything okay, Razz?" He asked, catching their gaze.
"What!?" Her face became pink.
"You're usually more talkative. Is your focus not going well at all?"
"It's fine," Razz moved away from Cas's touch, "I was just thinking about something."
"... Do you want to tell me about it?" Cas's eyes narrowed as he tried to search Razzamatazz's figure for answers.
"I will. Soon. I promise."
"Well, alright..." Their conversation was limited and stiff for the rest of their lunch.

Caspian lounged on his bed, solving one of his many Rubik's cubes. Rotating the rows and matching up the colors helped him think, and right now, he was thinking about razz. He seemed to be doing that a lot lately. He sighed, glancing over to his desk; at the picture of him and Razz together, which they had made a sparkly frame for. Her smile in the picture was wide and bright. Caspian wondered sometimes if she smiled because of him, or in spite of him. But he wanted them to be able to continue to smile.
He finished solving his cube and moved on to a more complex one. Something had definitely been off about Razz that day, but they hadn't been acting sad, exactly. He tried to tell himself that there was no reason to get caught up in guessing what had been affecting her; she'd said that she would tell him soon enough, after all. Providing support was the only thing he could do. He only hoped that whatever it was, wasn't too serious. He hoped it was something he could help with.
He paused playing with his Rubik's cube as he heard shuffling noises just outside his dorm room. He looked in the direction just in time to see a small envelope appear from the crack under his door. He waited for the shuffling sound to grow distant before getting off of his bed and crouching down to pick up the envelope. It was simple, with a single sticker holding it closed. He sat up on his bed and opened it. The handwriting was unmistakably Razzamatazz's. He read:
