Sua was drifting again. Sometimes she woke to complete darkness and sometimes she heard silent whispering around her.
The only thing constant was a soft beeping sound coming from a machine nearby. Was she in a hospital? she thought. But it was too quiet to be a hospital.

She heard faint footsteps approaching. A cool hand touched her forehead, probably checking her temperature. The hand then moved to her wrist and held for a minute. Another set of footsteps approached.

"Her colour has returned, I see" a soft musical voice said. "Well at least she doesn't look dead anymore." He added.

"Yes. Pretty, isn't she?" Someone closer to her answered probably the one with the soft hands.

She felt him slowly pull a strand of hair away from her face.

"Very" The musical voice said again.

"Careful now Jimin-ah. Don't go having a crush on her."

Sua heard laughter. It sounded like bells chiming. She didn't think she had ever heard a more beautiful sound. Was he an angel? Had she died? Is this heaven? She thought frantically. She tried to open her eyes to look at him but she couldn't and before she knew it she was drifting again.

Sua woke again to the sound of a door opening.

"Hyung" a deep voice called. "You should rest now. I'm sure she will be fine." He said

"I don't know Taehyung-ah. I think she was awake last night. She thrashed around I think, the I.V. was completely pulled out." A soft voice answered, laced with worry.

Had she? She couldn't remember. She tried opening her eyes again. Didn't work.

"Maybe I can stay with her again tonight?" The deep voice asked.

"Would you? Are you sure?"

"Yes. Maybe I'll read to her?"

"That sounds nice Taehyungie. I'm sure she would like that" he replied kindly.

"I'll just go grab a book from my room and be back in a minute"

Sua heard a soft chuckle from beside her. A hand brushed her hair again
"Feel better soon, jag-eun sae"

Little Bird? Did he just call her a little bird? She thought wretchedly.

But it didn't sound insulting in his soft voice as he whispered to her, it was more like an endearment. Maybe she liked it? She felt.... Safe. For the first time in a long time. She felt safe, she admitted.

"Jin-Hyung" the deep voice was back. "Go on. Rest well. I will stay with her now."

Sua heard someone approach and settle into a chair beside her. A large warm hand intertwined their fingers with her own. If she could move she would have stiffened at the sudden unfamiliar touch.

"Hello again beautiful. You feeling any better today?" the deep voice asked.

Again? Had he spoken to her before? She would have remembered the voice she thought.

A soft rustling sound of pages being turned reached her ears before the man cleared his throat.

"Until peonies bloom,
I'll still wait for my spring to come."

He read gently.

"When peonies drop their blossoms one by one,
I'll then be drowned in sorrows for my loss,
Spring's gone."

His voice and the beautiful poetry washed over her. She felt at peace.

"While peonies wither as they may,
With them my year's all gone.
Year round for the rest, All the way I'm weeping crestfallen,
Until peonies bloom,
I'll wait for, splendid but yet sorrowful spring to come."
