AN: Hello guys!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Like I said, I am back and better than ever, but like anything - this story isn't my main priority.

If anything it started off as a little hobby and something I wanted to create a story for all you lot to enjoy with things I've always imagined.

I will be going back to uni and focusing on that, but alongside work I do want to finish this story.

For you, and everyone else that holds this story dear - Thankyou.

Song: O children ~ Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

'Pass me that lovely little gun,
My dear, my darling one,
The cleaners are coming, one by one
You don't even want to let them start

They're knocking now upon your door
They measure the room, they know the score
They're mopping up the butchers floor
Of your broken little hearts

(Oo Children)

Forgive us now for what we've done
It started out as a bit of fun
Here, take these before we run away
They keys to the gulag

Come on (Children)
(Lift up your voice, lift up your voice)
Come on (Children)
(Rejoice, Rejoice)
Come on
Come on'

Chapter 44 | Healing Death's Sweet Kiss

Ember

The soft crack of embers made eyes open.

Awake for a moment, blissfully. Blinking and then blinking again, the warmth of a body gone, she mumbled incoherently as she shifted slightly.

An ache in her legs and lungs heard, another pop from a fire and everything became clear like the windows.

The lodge.

Where'd she'd found herself many a time before, but not in awake with much different circumstance.

The winter court.

And it all came flooding back.

Sitting upright, the blanket slipped slightly, she looked down to find her dress, torn and burned still on her.

How long have I been asleep for??

She was surprised sleep had even taken her considering the memories that began to torment her mind again, and the absence of Azriel beside her made it settle further.

Merena.

Not even a sob came from her now.
