Once Sebastian was out of bed and dressed for the day, we headed to the Undercroft. Neither of us were really in the mood to do much today, so we decided on practicing some spells and studying. We passed by Ominis on our way out who said he might be down later and join us.
After we practiced some of our spells on the training dummy and the various barrels and things down there, we sat down against the wall and started to do some schoolwork. I was half tempted to pull out the tarot cards again, but Sebastian stopped me.
"It's not worth it to dwell on things like that," he told me.
"Yeah, I know, but it would make me feel better if I had some answers," I replied with a sigh. "I just feel so unsure about everything as of late. There's so much to do still, and I feel so antsy just sitting here pretending like the threats aren't out there."
"You just need to be patient. We'll form a plan and go after them when the time is right."
I was being impatient. But that's only because while we sat here and waited, they weren't waiting. They didn't stop with their plans to wait for us to get out of class. I looked back down at the book I was reading and tried to take my mind off of everything.
It didn't work very well.
After a while, Ominis joined us in the Undercroft.
"Hello there, you two," he greeted. "How are you feeling?"
"I am on top of the world, Ominis, how are you?" Sebastian said sarcastically.
"I'm fine," Ominis replied.
He sat down next to us and pulled out his own schoolwork and started to go to town.
We sat there and chatted as we did our work for a few hours until dinner time. We headed down to the great hall together, taking out time as we walked through the halls. Sebastian grabbed my hand and intertwined my fingers with his as we walked, making me smile. Even though we were close all the time now, little things like hand holding and kisses on the cheek still made me smile like an idiot.
"I'm starting to feel left out between the two of you," said Ominis as he walked in front of us. Sebastian and I were lagging behind a bit, taking our time.
"Oh, don't be jealous," Said Sebastian. "I tried to climb in bed with you last night, but you rejected my advances."
I let out a laugh, but Ominis wasn't laughing.
"I still don't find that amusing, Sebastian."
Sebastian laughed with me, and after a few minutes we finally made it to the great hall.
The smell of the food as we entered the room made my stomach growl. I was eager to sit down and fill my plate with whatever they were serving tonight. I saw Poppy across the hall and gave her a wave before sitting down.
Right after I filled my plate, Imelda plopped down beside me as well.
"Well hello there, party pants," she greeted. "You were out awfully late last night. Woke Nerida and I up on your way in to the dorm."
"I tried to keep her quiet," Sebastian chuckled. "I could hardly get her shoes off last night."
"I don't remember any of that, so I'm going to maintain that it didn't happen," I joked.
We continued to chat as we ate, but I didn't talk much as I stuffed my face. Honestly, if it weren't for the sheer amount of stairs in the school, I would have gained so much weight over the years that I've been here.
After dinner, Sebastian and I decided to take a walk around the school grounds. Nothing dangerous or risky. Just a walk.
"Honestly it's been good this year to be able to spend time with you without having other things going on," he said. He was holding me close as we walked with his hand around my waist.
"Well there's still stuff going on, but I get what you mean."
"I felt bad about that, you know," he started. "Looking back, I only ever contacted you when I needed something. I wish we could've spent more time hanging out, just being us."
"Don't feel bad about it, Sebastian," I told him, stopping him to look in his eyes. I couldn't really tell what he was thinking. "It's not like I didn't do the same exact thing."
"I know. But I just keep thinking about the possibilities of what we could've been," he chuckled. "I could have experienced your kisses sooner."
"That would have been nice," I smiled.
"No, I mean it. Now that I've figured out what it feels like to be with you, I couldn't imagine being without you. Just the thought of it makes me unwell."
"Well you have me now, and you have me for good," I smiled.
"I love you, y/n," he whispered, moving his lips close to mine. They brushed up against mine as he spoke, filling my stomach with butterflies. "I love you so much."
He closed the minuscule distance between us and pressed his lips up against mine. It wasn't a hot and passionate kiss, but rather a sensitive and gentle kiss. When he kissed me, I knew he was telling me the truth about how much he loved me.
As he held me, his touch was tender and kind, and filled me with a whole different type of butterflies. I felt so safe and comfortable around him. He was my everything.
Our kiss was cut short when someone suddenly grabbed me from behind. I hadn't realized it, but we'd strayed far enough from the castle and were now off Hogwarts grounds.
Sebastian reached out for me, but a sudden blast blew him backwards and out of my grasp.
"Y/n!" he said, as someone put a bag over my head.
"Petrificus totalis!" I heard someone yell. It wasn't aimed at me, so I could only assume it was directed at Sebastian.
As I was dragged away, I kicked and screamed, but I couldn't free myself. I couldn't even see where they were taking me, but I knew who was behind it. I only hoped they'd leave Sebastian out of it this time.
