Sebastian's POV//
As soon as the petrifying spell wore off, I was after her.
It took a while for it to wear off, so I tried to run and catch up but the men who took y/n were nowhere to be seen. I frantically started to run in the direction that they'd taken her last time. My heart was pounding in my ears as I ran, and panic was coursing through my whole body.
After a long time of running, I finally made it. I frantically looked around in the places we'd been last time, but she was nowhere to be seen. I cursed under my breath and stopped for a moment to catch my breath.
The cave. Would they have taken here there?
I didn't think so, but it was worth checking.
I was absolutely exhausted by the time I got there, but she wasn't at the cave either. Where would they have taken her?
I was starting to freak out, knowing how long she's been gone. They could have hurt her in so many ways by now, and it was all because I couldn't find her. I needed to find her. After stopping to think for a moment, I did the only thing I could think of.
I headed back to the castle and went straight to Professor Weasley. If I couldn't find her myself, I would need some help. Backup might not hurt, either.
She was quite startled when I told her what had happened. I told her everything, all the way from the cave, to Charles and his abilities, to when y/n was taken. Much like me, she wasn't sure where to start.
"Why don't you head back to your common room until we can figure something out?" she said. "There's nothing more you can do right now except get some rest, and I can come let you know when we have something to go off of."
"I want to start looking for her now though," I said frantically. "She's already been gone so long, and I can't bear the thought of her being with that man all alone."
"Y/n has always been able to handle herself in the past, and for now we're going to have to trust that fact until we know where we can find her. Just get some rest, and we will reconvene at a later time. Do you understand?"
"Fine," I said.
I headed back to the common room, but there was absolutely no way that I was going to get any sleep. When I got to the commons, Ominis was still up, pacing back and forth by the fireplace.
"Sebastian, there you are," he said. "I was beginning to worry about you. Where is y/n?"
"Something bad has happened, Ominis," I started. And then I told him everything.
"Sebastian, that's not good," he said. "But you need to listen to Professor Weasley for now- I know it's going to be hard to sit around and wait, but there's nothing else you can do right now."
"I feel like there's more I can do, I just don't know what it is," I said, my voice low. There had to be something I was missing. Something more I can do. I hated leaving her alone like this. I hated feeling so helpless and useless.
I was supposed to be able to protect her, and there is no way for me to do that right now. These feelings just made me angry and impatient.
"I know it's not like you to sit around and do nothing, but there's nothing else that can be done right now," Ominis urged. "Please just be patient."
"Like you said, that's not me," I spat. "I'm going to the library, I'll be back in a little while. Don't wait up for me."
"Sebastian-" Ominis started, but I cut him off and left.
My first and only thought right now was to find a map of the surrounding areas. I could at least narrow it down to fewer places to check. There was a lot of land to cover around here though. Despite this, I got started on crossing out the places I knew she wasn't.
He wouldn't want to take her to a populated area, but they had to have some sort of house or ruins of some kind to operate from, and by the amount of men he has working for them, it could be of any size. I started to wonder in the first place how Charles got to be in control of these men. When we'd originally overheard them talking in the cave, we first gathered that they used to work for Rookwood. So maybe after y/n killed him, they just turned to the next best thing.
Sheep, is what they were.
I had a good amount of places crossed off the map, but there were still dozens of places left. I crossed out anywhere that people currently lived, or places you couldn't easily detain someone. I kept a few abandoned hamlets on the list of places to check, as well as some ruins and some.
I decided that checking the abandoned hamlets would be the first best guess.
I left the library with the map clutched in my hand and quietly made my way back to the commons. If I was going after her, I at least needed to let Ominis know what I was doing so he wouldn't worry.
"You need to wait, like Weasley told you to," he said. "Going in alone isn't smart, and you know that."
"I don't care. This is y/n we're talking about, and I can't leave her there, you know that I have to do this."
I turned around and left before he could get in another word.
