"Well well, look who's back!" said a familiar voice.

I'd been packed off by someone and they were walking with me slung over their shoulder for a while, and they just finally came to a stop and dumped me to the ground. The bag was still on my head, so I had no clue where I was, but I definitely recognized Charles' voice.

"Fuck you," I spat. He only laughed at my outburst.

I tried to rip the bag off my head, but someone grabbed my hands and tied them behind my back before I could get that far.

"You're a wily one, aren't you?" he said. Something about this guy's tone just pissed me off. He talked like everything was just a joke, and he wasn't actually serious about wanting to kidnap me and do whatever he had planned with me at all. Footsteps sounded in front of me as someone came close. I could hear their breathing just inches away from my face that lay pressed against the ground. "You should really behave, you know. It would make this so much easier for you."

"What do you even want with me?" I asked calmly.

"What I want doesn't matter right now," he said. "We both know you're not going to cooperate, so all we need to worry about right now is how I can get you to comply."

He grabbed the bag and pulled it off my face. My hair was slicked down across my face in sweat, still partially blocking my vision. "I will never work with you, if that's what you're getting at."

"Well it's that or die, so I don't see what the dilemma here is. And I'd really rather not have to kill you- even though you've tried to kill me already- so I'm going to try really hard to find a way for us to work."

"Like I said, never going to happen," I spat. He got up and turned around.

I took that moment to try to see my surroundings. I knew I was outside, but where, I didn't know. As I tried to turn around, one of his men put their boot against my cheek and forced me to look back at Charles. I needed to find a way out of this, and fast, before he started to play his games again.

"Oh no," said Charles, looking to the man who had his boot still pressed against my cheek. "We don't treat our honored guests like that, now do we?"

Before the man or I could even react, Charles performed the killing curse and dropped his own man to the ground without a second thought. I was still in shock from what I'd just seen when he grabbed my shoulders and pulled me upright. His nose was almost touching mine as he spoke to me now, sending shivers of disgust down my spine.

"I want you to know I'm serious about this, you see," he smiled. "I'm serious about you. I will get you, no matter what I have to do."

"You're disgusting," I retorted. "I will never work with someone like you."

He only scoffed and chuckled at my response.

"You have me all wrong, dear. I'm not just talking about working with me. I'm talking about a nice comfortable life, where you and I can rule together. I mean, it's practically a match made in heaven, seeing as we both possess our amazing ability. Don't you see it?"

"I would rather die before ever being with someone like you," I spat.

"And that's the problem. That boy. He's in your head, you know. You shouldn't get hung up on pieces of trash like that when you could have someone like me."

His words filled me with rage hearing him talk about Sebastian like that. I loved Sebastian, and no matter what this man could offer me or do to me, I would never betray Sebastian.

Then again, all I could think about is the many ways this man could hurt Sebastian to get to me. Charles was right; Sebastian is a weak spot. I love him way too much to let anything happen to him. All this did was bring back all the negative thoughts about how I was bad for him. I'd previously enabled him to take some seriously dark paths, and I would never want to do that to him again.

That's all that I might be doing with this.

"Nothing snarky to say?" Charles teased, pulling me back to the present moment.

"Oh I have plenty to say," I retorted. "Like how you need to get your big fat nose out of my face so I can actually think. That thing takes up so much real estate that this entire hamlet must have had to relocate because of it."

I didn't like him having the upper hand in this conversation, so being a bitch was about the only thing I had going for me at the moment.

He actually took a step back from me and stood back up. I swear I watched him run his hand over his nose before turning around to look at me again, but from my angle, I really couldn't tell. The thought made me internally laugh regardless.

"Ouch," he said. "Leave it to you to point out my insecurities," he said in a sarcastically sad voice. "I really hoped you'd work with me here. But it looks like we're going to have to resort to the more entertaining methods."

He didn't even seem mad about it. Thinking about what he does to me doesn't worry me. I could be tortured, assaulted, burned, killed, or fucked with in any way you could possibly think of, but what would really get me is how he might use the people in my life to get to me.

It kills me that he already knows that would work. I'd proven that at our last little rendezvous.

"For now, we'll have to lock you up, if that's okay," he said. "Can't take any risks in the meantime. I'm sure someone like you understands."

After he said that, he and one other man dragged me through the dirt towards a little house. Once inside, my hands were cuffed to the wall and my feet were locked in chains. they were so tight that I couldn't even hardly relax my limbs.

Being locked up, that I didn't care about. It was just absolute torture not being able to do anything about whatever plan I knew he was currently cooking up.

All I could hope for was that Sebastian would be smart enough not to come after me, but I doubt it. It's almost a guarantee that he was already on his way here right now.

All I have right now is a tiny sliver of hope that he might bring some form of backup.
