Magicians are the so-called evolved humans.
When the gods first gifted humanity with intelligence and wisdom, it was clear that the possibilities were endless. And over the course of a hundred thousand years, Humans proved just how far they could go with this incredible ability.
But wisdom alone is not enough to thrive in this world. Humans quickly realized that they needed power to match it, and so they set out to invent and innovate in order to bring about a true revolution in the world. This was no easy task, and it took a tremendous amount of effort and perseverance. But they knew that in order to thrive in a world where strength is king, they had to rise to the challenge.
As mortals, humans have always sought to comprehend the enigmatic laws and regulations of the world - those which are revered as the very embodiment of the World's Will by the other sentient races that dwell within it. Eons have passed, and civilizations have crumbled into dust, while new metropolises have risen from the ashes of the old, and countless generations of humankind have come and gone.
Such is the fleeting nature of time for this frail and vulnerable race.
Yet, despite that, they still managed to break the will of the world.
The human race's discovery of using magic would be the greatest breakthrough amongst all the discoveries.
A new entity called magicians emerged as soon as humanity realized their ability to control the course of the universe. These people had the extraordinary and rare potential to modify reality itself, channeling the will of the world for their own interests. It was a power unlike any other, and it forever distinguished them from other people in the human race.
Of course, not every person was able to use such power. This fact only served to elevate the status of those who could, making the magician's profession all the more coveted and revered. As they dared to push the limits of what was supposed to be feasible, they were the human race's innovators and mavericks.
And with the rise of this new breed of humans came the birth of institutions designed to train and cultivate their unique talents. Of these institutions, none were more renowned than the three great magic academies that towered above all others.
The Athenian School of Magic, an all-girls institution, came in third in the rankings.
Unlike other magical schools that focused on elaborate formulations and intricate charms, the Athenian School valued nature's sheer power. Magic was a spiritual connection to the world around them for these talented pupils, not a tool to be used for self-gain.
As such, the students of Athenian School learned to utilize the magic of nature through a delicate balance of observation and intuition. They studied the motions of the stars and the seasonal cycles in order to comprehend the natural rhythms and flows that regulated the world around them. When calamity occurred, they acknowledged it wasn't the work of a malevolent force, but rather a manifestation of nature's own magic in severe conditions.
The second-place holder belongs to the Scholastic School of Magic—a place where reason and logic reigned supreme. For the magicians of this prestigious institution, magic was not some mystical force to be worshipped or feared, but rather a complex and nuanced system to be studied and understood.
Unlike their more superstitious counterparts, the magicians of the Scholastic School believed that magic was not simply a product of nature, but rather a manifestation of the power of ideas. They understood that the shape and form of magic was constantly changing, adapting to the shifting landscape of human thought and ingenuity.
Their greatest achievements, however, came in the form of their mechanical inventions - incredible machines that used magic as fuel to power their wondrous abilities. Their floating vehicles and teleportation devices made travel faster and more convenient than ever before, and their mechanical wonders made life easier and more comfortable for all.
