Later that night we wake up to find that Penelope has escaped from her crib and is in the living room quite content destroying the Christmas tree, this time along with her new friend, the German Spitz puppy I brought with me.

I thought Natasha would be furious, but she just laughs and helps me put the tree back together until everything is in place again.

And that's how I feel now.

As if things were finally in place.

So we sit in front of the tree and I show Natasha something on my phone.

- What is it?

- Your Christmas present.

She reads the email about the trip.

- Serious?

- Yes, to celebrate two years of marriage.

- I loved! She pulls me close and I feel happy to see Natasha happy again.

She might be crazy most of the time, but she makes me happy. And I want to make her happy always too.

Penelope pushes herself among us with her little arms circling our necks. And we stood there, watching the Christmas tree lights.

This is my life.

With Natasha and Penelope.

I needed to forget and get away to realize that there was nowhere else I wanted to be.
