I sat up in bed once I heard the door open

I sat up in bed once I heard the door open. "Get up I need you to help me on the farm." He said before walking away. "There's a thing called knocking dad!" I yelled at him. "I paid for the door I can do whatever I dang well please! If I wanna rip the door of the hinges I'll do that!" He yelled back. I rolled my eyes before going to my bedroom drawer and grabbing a button up shirt and black pants. I also grabbed some wrist cuffs to wear just in case.

I threw on my clothes and fixed my father and I some breakfast. He sat down and quickly stuffed the food down his throat, it was a wonder he didn't choke from it. "Hurry up!" he told me before putting on his hat and sitting back down at the head of the table. "All due respect, I'm not about to choke my food down for you." I said, eating normally. He slammed his fist on the table before getting up and walking away. I heard him mutter under his breath calling me disrespectful and ungrateful. I shrugged finishing my food like a normal person and went outside to saddle up my horse.

I hopped on *Horse name* and went out into the field to look for my father. I finally found him pushing some cattle into the southern most holding pen. I caught up to him and closed the gap before the cattle ran through it. There were no more problems as we got them into the holding pen. As we headed to move the other horses, my dad cut in front of me making *horses name* buck suddenly. I calmed down my horse before yelling at my dad.

"You did that on purpose. Never ever ride in front of me again! You out of all people know to never do that!" I yelled angrily.

"What did you say to me little girl!?" He asked angrily.

"I said... Never ride in front of me again!" I yelled this time more venomous than before. Suddenly I saw the mayor riding up. I had never actually seen him only heard of him. Plus who else would be wearing a fur coat in almost 100 degree weather.

"Good Morning." He said stopping at a safe distance in front of us. I nodded my head at him and while my father responded with a good morning back. The mayor looked at me confused. I guess he expected me to give a more verbal response. "Not much of a talker?" He said looking over at my father then back at me.

"With respect sir, I'm out here to work not talk, I have a job to do." I said tipping my hat at him before getting ready to ride off.

"Y/N!" My father said angrily hoping for me to fix my attitude.

"She has every right to be angry with you Michael. You cut her off when riding and her horse bucked. She could've been seriously injured. Her horse... It's new to these fields, you of all people should know that you never cut off another cowboy or cowgirl in this matter." The mayor said smiling over at me. I smiled back happy that he corrected him. My father only seems to listen to other men. My father hung his head in shame apologizing. The mayor made him apologize to me before he made his way over to me.

"I don't think we've met before. You don't seem eager to make me happy like everyone else. It's a nice change." He said smiling kindly at me. I smiled back chuckling.
