Nightmare's POV
Purrrrrr!
I smile, petting Perl as I worked through dozens of papers with the assistance of my tentacles and reading a book. Nothing much was planned for today besides the three of them going out so everyone has been relaxing here. I've been getting work done, having Perl as good company. Then I sense a spike of positivity from my brother, though it's tainted with negative anxieties and doubts. This allowed me to learn the source of his feelings, learning that he is nervous about Error's reaction to the roses he gave him.
Oooh, I see what you're up to Dream. You're getting too close to him.
Perl starts to whimper, looking at the clock.
"What's wrong, Perl?"I ask
He gets up, running off. I follow behind him, seeing him stop in the doorway to Error's room.
Oh, he misses Error. Well this would be the first time that they are apart, let alone for so long...
I grab his leash, hooking it to his collar.
"Wanna go see him?"I say, getting a happy squeak in return
I open a portal, walking us through and finding large crowds of people roaming. No wonder he was hesitant to bring Perl. I grip the leash tighter, keeping the kitten close. I see various flags raised proudly in the crowds and I catch onto what this event is. I wander around, seeing Horror cuddle his boyfriend with their flag wrapped around them like a blanket and Killer just fooling around with others as he spins his flag on a stick. I glance around curiously, shocked that I've been unable to spot him yet. He sticks out with his glitching anywhere else, yet it must be too crowded to tell here. But I know what group I may find him with, so I move through the crowd to where I saw the ace and aro flags waving proudly. There were plenty of them, yet no sign of Error. Perl whimpers again, seeming disappointed that he hasn't been found. One guy looks over to me and smiles.
"Hello! Welcome to the group! My name is Tony! Here to celebrate? I didn't see you in the opening march."He says
"Umm, no. Not exactly. Error's cat Perl here wants him and I'm trying to locate him."I say
"Oh, he just left with Sylvon. He's probably around here somewhere. Probably by the food trucks and stuff."He says
I nod, glancing around. Perl sniffs the ground, then purrs and runs off, dragging me along as if the leash yanking at his collar wasn't there. He zips through the crowd, making sharp turns to get around people and I struggle to keep up with him. Then he slows down, sniffing again. It is less crowded and I see different food and beverage markets set up. I start to hear a conversation in this more peaceful area.
"So, I saw the roses beside you. Are you into anyone or with anyone?"A voice asks
"NoPe. ThAt gIfT wAs MorE aWkwArD tHan RoManTic sO dOn'T wOrRy aBoUt tHat."I hear Error say
"Do you have any romantic attraction? I know you're ace obviously but that's just sexuality. Does it lean one way or another?"The voice asks
"HmMm, I aM nOt SuRe. I hAve NEvEr bEeN iN a ReLatIonShiP wHerE I fElt aNytHinG tO kNow."He says
"You never felt that spark?"The voice asks
"I gUeSs nOt. MaYbE i JuSt hAvEn'T mEt tHeM yEt. FoR nOw I Am gOoD wItH mY fRiEnDs. My...qUiRks aLso seRve As a PreTtY gOod obStaCle aT tHe moMenT anYwAy. HaViNg a PhObIa tHat mAkEs mE bReaK dOwn aT tHe sLigHteSt tOucH doEsN't eXacTly mAke BonDinG eAsy."He says
"Hmm, well theoretically would you be more attracted to boys or girls? Like I dunno...Toriel or Asgoro from that show you watch? Would you date either of them?"The voice asks
"HmMmm, nO. I cAn'T eXacTlY sAy. I liKe tHeM aS chArAcTerS, aNd sUre TheY'rE AeSthEticAlLy aTtRacTiVe, bUt tHat iS iT. LiKe rEaDiNg sToRieS, tHe chAraCtErs aRe gOod, I jUsT dOn'T crUsh On TheM."He says
"Makes sense. Are you close friends with anyone then?"The voice says
"YeP! I hAvE a FeW cLoSe fRieNds aNd a CaT nAmeD PerL!"He says happily
I smile, gripping the leash tighter. Error is having a good time obviously. I don't want to disrupt it.
"Ah! Like the coding language!"The voice says
"MhM! I eVen cAmE wIth mY fRieNd! He Is aRouNd hErE wiTh hIs bOyfRieNd sOmEWhErE."He says
"How come you didn't bring Perl?"
"I wAsn'T sUrE iFhE wOulD bE aLrIghT oUt hErE. BuT I kNoW hE iS iN gOoD hAnDs. I lEfT hIm wItH mY gOoD fRieNd NiGhTmArE."He says
I smile.
"What's this Nightmare guy like?"
"Is he good to you? Respectful?"
"Do we have to have a talk with him?"
"Oh cAlM dOwN! He iS gReAt! He ReSpeCtS mY bOunDaRieS aNd eVen...hElpEd mE wiTh tHose WhO diDn'T. ThErE wAs a MisUndErStaNdinG bUt wE aRe pAsT tHat nOw. BuT tRuSt mE, YoU dOn'T wAnT To sTaRt tRoUbLe wItH tHat WaLkInG oCtOpuS."He chuckles
I smile, glad to know that he feels comfortable with me after that misunderstanding.
Perl lost his patience though, pulling me away. I see Error talking with a three-headed serpent that I assume to be Sylvon. Error has a big asexual flag wrapped around him as he sips from a cup holding what looks like a chocolate smoothie with whipped cream. Sylvon notices me as I try to get Perl to calm down.
"Uuh, it looks like you have company."He says, pointing to me behind Error
Error turns around and looks surprised at first, then smiles.
"HeY nIghTmArE!"He says
"Hey, sorry to intrude but Perl here wanted to be with you again."I say as Perl leaps into his arms
Loud purrs erupt from the kitten and Error smiles wider, setting the drink aside to pet him.
"ThAnKs fOr bRiNgInG hIm tHeN. WoUlD yOu liKe To jOiN uS?"He asks, unaware that Sylvon just left him
"Sure, Error."I say with a smile
He takes the leash from me, grabbing his drink. He seems upset that Sylvon left, but only for a moment. He starts to show me around and I can't help but smile, seeing how he is having a great time.
And that made it a great time for both of us.
