"bun, come here breakfast is ready."
"Coming."
Taehyung smiled when he heard Jungkook’s excited voice coming from upstairs while he placed the last plate on the table for their breakfast. He looked once more toward the staircase and then walked back into the kitchen to bring out the orange juice and a bowl of fresh fruits for his bun.
Coming out, he found Jungkook already sitting at the table, waiting for him, and the moment their eyes met, a beautiful smile bloomed on the younger's face.
He walked over and leaned down to place a soft kiss on Jungkook’s cheek, causing the younger to startle just slightly. "Are you feeling okay, my bun?" Taehyung asked gently as he walked around the table, pouring the juice into Jungkook’s glass. The ravenette nodded, his bunny smile stretching wide as he looked up at his lover.
"Don’t worry, baby, I’m feeling a lot better," Jungkook said softly, taking the glass Taehyung handed him and whispering a shy "Thank you."
Taehyung’s smile faltered just slightly, his eyes soft with concern as he picked up a slice of toast and began buttering it. He couldn’t help but notice how Jungkook had become more alert, more careful around him after the events of last night. Even over the smallest things, he apologized—offering quiet, guilt-laced words, and his face would crumple with concern if Taehyung so much as flinched.
Still, even so, their relationship had deepened, grown warmer in some way. Taehyung knew Jungkook would heal with time and tenderness—and once they returned home. He smiled gently to himself and placed the stuffed toast onto Jungkook’s plate, giving a loving kiss to the side of his head.
"Eat this one, bub. I’m sorry I got up late and didn’t prepare breakfast earlier," Taehyung said softly, guilt in his eyes as he brushed a hand through Jungkook’s dark locks. Last night had run long; they’d stayed up talking deep into the early hours.
And while Jungkook had risen early, Taehyung had remained in a much-needed sleep, only waking when the sun was already halfway across the sky.
"Don’t say that, baby," Jungkook replied gently. "I know you were tired from last night, and just seeing you sleep so peacefully made me feel relaxed, too." He took Taehyung’s hand and pressed a kiss to it, lingering just a second longer.
"Aww, but I know my baby must’ve been hungry, right?" Taehyung cooed, leaning over to press a smooch to Jungkook’s cheek and sitting down beside him with a loving smile.
Jungkook chuckled cutely and took a bite of the toast, happily munching while Taehyung served him more food, occasionally feeding bites to each other between soft laughs and shy touches. Jungkook held onto Taehyung’s hand between bites, kissing his knuckles now and then.
The peaceful moment was interrupted by the sudden ring of Taehyung’s phone echoing through the room. He blinked in surprise but smiled brightly when he saw the caller ID. "Oh, it’s Mom, bun," Taehyung said cheerfully, picking up the call and putting it on speaker so Jungkook could hear too.
"Hello, dear?" came the warm voice from the other end.
"Hello, Mom," Taehyung replied with a bright smile, all the while placing another buttered toast on Jungkook’s plate, who continued to eat contentedly without a care.
"What are you guys doing, dear?"
"We’re having breakfast, Mom. Did you eat your lunch already?" Taehyung asked, glancing at the clock. It would be well into the afternoon in Korea.
"Yes, dear, we just had lunch. Your dad had to head into the office in Jungkook’s absence—they needed some signatures—and your aunt and hyungs also left for home this morning. So I thought I’d call you."
