~y/n pov~
I walked along the green forest path, basket and journal in either hand. Sunlight filtered through the trees, causing spots of sunlight to litter the forest floor and the flowers it held.
I made sure to identify every plant and possible vegetable or fruit that I picked. I wouldn't want to think I was growing yarrow and mistake it with hemlock, eventually leading to my slow and painful death...
I had currently picked only wild kale and thyme. When digging, I had made sure not to lacerate any of the roots and keep the plant in as healthy shape as possible to prevent it from dying on the walk back to my house.
I reached a clearing. Sunlight beautifully flooded the soft green grass and all above it. A single large tree stood in the clearing, and at its base stood a patch of bright yellow flowers. Confused, I stepped up to them to get a closer look.
I bent down on my knees and lifted the flower's bulb up with my pointer finger. Before I could identify the flower, I heard a voice above me.
"What are you doing?"
The voice was filled with accusation, I stood up and stepped back to see a figure with high-standing red hair curled to the front. He had yellow skin and one purple-flower earring hung from his right ear.
He wore a loose-tied red ascot and a blue and purple jacket along with multicolored striped pants. He rested on a wide branch with his hands resting on his chest. He stared down at me with menace. "Oh! Nothing, I just wanted to look a the flowe-" he interrupted me. "Have me met?"
"No, I'm new to the neighborhood. The name is y/n, yours?" The guy scoffed and rested his head back on the branch, closing his eyes. "Wally."
"That's a nice name." I complimented. He didn't respond. Starting to get annoyed, I cleared my throat loudly. "You shouldn't be sniffing around in places you aren't aquatinted with..." Wally huffed. Carefully placing my journal in my basket, I put both hands on my hips. "Well what do ya' think I'm doing? I'm trying to get acquainted! I live here now too, you know." Wally sat up and jumped out of the tree, which wasn't a far fall.
He copied my stance and out his hands on his hips with a cocky, annoyed expression. "So? There can be dangerous stuff in these woods, trust me." He stepped over to me and crossed his arms.
He was talking down to me. I huffed and leaned in. "Why are you here then? You obviously aren't built for danger..."
"Oh, you think so?"
"Oh, I know so..."
Our faces where barely inches away from each other. As we narrowed our eyes at each other with challenging malice, I noticed that the sun lit his face perfectly. My eyes widened slightly from the distraction. Wally seemed to notice the same with me, and he immediately leaned back and brushed it off.
He scoffed. "Whatever. As if I would be challenged by a bug like you." He sneered. I pushed down my offense. "Well, this has sure been a nice greeting..." I huffed. "What where you even doing in that tree in the first place?"
"Minding my business. What did it look like? What where you doing creeping around the forest?" I readjusted the plant basket to the crook of my arm. "I'm a gardener, looking for new seeds and plants." I stated hotly. Wally's eyes suddenly widened slightly, the annoyance only slightly wavering from his face. "Oh? What do you grow?"
I was confused. Does this guy flip on a dime?...
"Mostly herbs. But I also grow a lot of flowers such as bluebells, sunflowers, daisies, violets..." Wally's interest seemed to spark. He nodded as he intently listened to me speaking. "You sure flipped a switch. Why are you acting not like an asshole all of a sudden?" I inquired harshly. Wally shrugged. "I thought that you were just an annoying snoop when i first saw you, you don't seem as terrible now..."
"Should I take that as a compliment?" I huffed. Wally smiled cockily. "Only if you want too~..."
God, that was a sudden shift in tone. Oh god, why am I blushing? Does this freak really derive pleasure out of being an ass? He must be some kind of sadist...
"Whatever. I've gotta get back to my house before these plants die...have a nice day." I spat, lifted my chin, and turned my heel. As I walked back down the path, I heard Wally behind me. "Come back soon~..." he said in a sing-song voice. I huffed to myself with annoyance, knowing deep down that I would come back...
