Philip had overused his body. He had fainted just because of the amount of magic he had used.

As soon as he agreed to talk to Fenton, the god was overjoyed. Philip started asking questions like a curious child asking a scientist why the Earth revolves.

"Are you truly going to answer every question I have?" Philip questioned, his voice filled with disbelief. He had never thought that a God would so freely answer his questions.

"Yes, mortal. After all, I wish for you to become my successor."

Philip had already decided that he wouldn't be Fenton's successor but decided that it would be foolish to say that out loud.

"Now, are you going to ask questions or continue scheming whatever it is that you are scheming?"

Philip laughed peevishly and asked the question above all others on his mind, "What exactly are you? "

"Oh! Is that your first question? What exactly am I? Haha. Let's see."

He took a deep breath and continued, narrating the importance of his existence, "I was born a leviathan, one of the mightiest ones, as you just saw. But to me, that was not enough. I wanted more. Leviathans, unlike beasts, could take the form of humans. But this ability was only granted to the strongest.

Thus began my want to be stronger than any other being I would ever face. I learnt how to assume a human form and set out to fight stronger beasts. Then one day, I came across one particular human or what I had assumed to be human at the time. We fought, and he completely overpowered me in every aspect of our fight. Even worse was the insulting look in his eyes throughout the fight, as if I didn't matter enough.

I was barely able to land a single hit on that monster. But my prowess impressed him. He told me to become his disciple. I learnt from him and found out that he was what was known as a God. He was one of the chosen few who had ascended to divinity. They met once every decade or so to discuss their areas of influence.

Never had I seen such impossibly strong beings, but they had their enemies — The Harbingers — Each one stood for some evil or good. When a new harbinger was made, chaos ensued. Their presence balanced the order created by the Gods.

Soon after I became the Earth God's disciple, I ascended to the level of a god myself. If someday you can reach that level, you will understand the glory and the hardships I faced. But for now, you can imagine the process as a Titan using you as a fry, dipping your body in lava and taking a bite out of your body.

So... to answer your question about what I am. I am one of the strongest beings in the world.

Every oceanic being and body falls under my jurisdiction. Anything born from the ocean, or anything that dies in it, is mine. Every second that one is under my influence, I have complete control over their fate."

Philip was shaken by just imagining what Fenton had to go through to reach his current status, but then again, he was surprised by what he had said. It meant that even Philip could ascend to the status of a god. Is that what Aether had meant?

"Now, child, it is my chance to ask you a question. Why did you come here? This place lies in the void space, and no mortal can here of his own accord."

Philip thought about whether he should tell Fenton the truth or not. He decided it would not harm him and said, "I hear a voice. It belongs to some divine being, and my powers summon his. I have some of his powers to jump across dimensions. He told me that there was a monster there. I needed to free a temple from that monster."

"Hoh! Oh, that bastard is still alive. I thought he had died long ago. Good thing he remembered his promise. Child, if you have his powers, then I apologize. You can't be my successor. You already possess the powers of someone greater. HAHAHA. You're screwed.

But I would still like to bless you with some of my powers. When you wake up, I will ensure you have everything you need for your journey. And perhaps she might be of use to you as well."

"I'm sorry what?" Philip thought he had misheard Fenton. "Who do you mean when you say 'she'?"

The god remained silent and almost immediately left Philip's consciousness. Philip would have protested but he was in no condition to do so and he had enough to think about from his encounter with this god.
