The Forgotten God

"This land belonged to me years ago. One day, a human with an inflated ego decided to challenge me. I'd heard of him. I was the first god he fought before ascending. His powers had brought the powers of humans to our knowledge. One human alone decided to fight gods and harbingers alike. Never before had we seen such destruction. His actions made our hair stand.

"Soon after he ascended, he disappeared. We never heard from him for a long time. Meanwhile, my kingdom flourished along with the other gods'. Then for the first time in our lives, all divine beings learnt of the existence of a prophecy that threatened the existence of gods. I was to be killed by the other gods.

"But I was saved by the one who favours you. He put my kingdom in stasis and 'killed' me. The other gods believed I was killed, and my kingdom disappeared. I was put in that realm where you found me. I slumbered, waiting for someone who could fight me. I killed the residents of that realm. Slowly, my body tired, so I decided to slumber, hoping that one day someone would come to kill or save me.

"And when you came along, destroying my food, I could barely control my anger. I awoke and was attacked by you. I decided you would do as my successor, but you declined. Then after you fainted, I heard the voice of the one who had kept me in that prison in the first place. He told me that it was safe to leave.

"When I came back, I found that everyone had already awakened. I had brought you back and I told them to take care of you.

"Now, I called you here for a particular reason. Your powers — Have they returned?"

Philip let out an embarrassed laugh, "I haven't checked yet. I feel like they're working a bit better now though. I will try to see if they're back today."

Even though Philip was acting fine and saying that he was excited to see if his powers were back, he didn't feel like it. HIs powers had brought him pain everytime he used them. He had never wished for his powers gone, but he remembered the time when he had overused his powers essentially burning them out.

He left the feast and headed back to his room. He thought about how he was the only human at the place. Perhaps if there was some other human, they could understand his problem.

Everyone here was either a merman or some sort of aquatic mammal. Only 2 beings weren't included in these categories and those were Fenton and Kane. The god wanted Philip to get his powers back and Kane could never understand not wanting powers. Philip was tired of the constant risk, and he had almost killed himself this time. Philip worried about what his parents would feel if he went out of contact with them.

Suddenly he felt a piercing pain in his head. Lately, everytime he thought about his parents, this happened. Philip had stopped thinking about them altogether.

Lost in his thoughts, he made his way back to his room. He sat down on his bed and looked at the door. He tried to make himself stop thinking about losing his powers. For the second time that day, he reminisced about the time he lost his powers. His life, for a very short time, had become normal again. He got up and slowly walked towards the door.

He saw a flicker of movement on the far side of the corridor. A girl passed by with beautiful brown hair. Even though they were under water, Philip hadn't seen anyone with hair that flowed like hers. Just for a moment before she disappeared, Philip thought he saw feet instead of fins.

For a second, he was really confused, but then convinced himself that he must have seen an illusion, as it was impossible for anyone except him to be there. He closed his door and went back to sit on his bed.

Sitting on the bed, he started taking slow breaths and closed his eyes. He focused on his body, and how it moved. Soon, he started seeing lights flying in front of him. Rather than looking outwards, he looked into himself and saw his body light up. It was dim compared to his surroundings, but the fact that he was able to see this meant that his powers had returned. He tried to access his dimension.
