Echo & Zan

As they said their farewell to the others, they approached the river. Before they entered the water, Echo waved her hand for one last goodbye. Besides Zan, they were the first to accept her.

Because of the blue in her eyes, the other quibassons always stayed away from her. When she first met Zan, it scared her. She thought he would reject her as his mate. Like everyone around her did.

Echo remembered it as if it was yesterday.

She was swimming underwater when suddenly, all the scales she possessed on her body glowed.

That's how the quibassons found their mates. Once they consumed their union, the scales would stop glowing.

When she noticed she was glowing. Echo hid from him. She couldn't face him. She was afraid that he would reject her.

Once Zan found her. To her surprise, he told her she had the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. At that moment, they became inseparable.

"What are you doing?" Zan interrupted Echo's thoughts.

She smiled at him. "I was on memory lane, thinking of how we met. How we met and how lucky I am to have ended up with you." She wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing his lips.

Zan kissed her forehead. "I'm the lucky one." He whispered over her skin.

As they swam ahead of them, they saw other quibassons waiting for them. It was rare to see such a large gathering. Usually, the quibassons were solitary species. After they were born, they were left alone in the river, so only the strongest could survive.

"What do you think they're all doing here?" Echo asked with curiosity. She was on her guard in case something went wrong.

"I don't know. Stay behind me just in case." Echo nodded her head and did what Zan asked of her. Zan took precautions and stopped swimming before they were too close to the others. Echo stood right behind him.

One of the others went closer to Zan and Echo. "We all heard what you did, you and your mate. You saved us all. We are sorry for the way we treated the one with the blue eyes. We are waiting here to ask for your forgiveness as we say thank you for what you did."

"Did you hear that, Zan? They finally accepted me." She couldn't hold back her smile.

When he saw that they weren't there to harm his mate, Zan swam aside so she could go talk to the others. Finally, they came to their senses. He says to him. Too bad it took the end of the world for that to happen. As they say, better late than never.

Once the other quibassons had gone off in different directions, Zan had a surprise for Echo. He took her hand, swimming towards it.

"Why did you bring me here?" She wondered with curiosity, looking around.

They were back on the island where Kally was originally from.

"Well, you see, our species never has a specific place to live. We're always on the move. So I thought that maybe we could use this place as our home. I already asked Kally if we could live here. It was once her home. We could rebuild the place. The Island could have a life here again. If our friends want to see us, now they know where to look instead of Nehalla using her scream." He hoped she liked the idea of them spending the rest of their life here.

She was pleased with the idea of them having their own home. Echo jumped into his arms and kissed him passionately. Zan lost his balance as his back hit the ground.

Nova kissed her mate to show her how thankful she was for the idea. "I love you. I accept it and now let me show you how grateful I am for this."

She removed her clothes from her body as she was naked in front of him. But before he could make a move toward her. She ran while she laughed, jumping into the water. Zan licked his lips before he took off his clothes and swam after her.

He brought her in his arms. Zan kissed Echo, exploring the inside of her mouth with his tongue. Echo took the opportunity to bring him between her thighs, encircling her legs around his waist. He lowered his hand to the center of her chore. Once he was satisfied with the way she begged him, Zan penetrated his mate, giving her exactly what she wanted.

She pushed my hips back into his. "Zan!" Echo moaned his name.

With one hand, he was holding her waist while the other played with her nipple. Echo circled her arms around his neck while she threw her head back as the pleaser consumed her.

"Echo, I love you." He panted, looking at her.

"I love you too, so, so much." She leaned toward him for a kiss.

They both dove deeper into the water as they continued their mating. They found a cave underwater to fertilize two eggs, to hide from predators. Echo and Zan surfaced once the eggs were in a safe place.

They were lying on the shore, still naked. Zan was playing in Echo's hair as she rested her head on his chest.

Zan looked at the sky. "I forgot to tell you how brave I thought you were when we were up against him."

She let out a sigh. "I was so scared. I can't believe we got out of there alive. It could have been so much worse."

Can tighten his hold around her. "Me too, my seashell, me too. I'm glad it's all over. Now we have this place to call home. We have claimed this domain, and no one will bother us."

"Just our friends?" She asked him.

He left a kiss on the top of her head. "Just our friends." He clarified.

Echo looked over the river, thinking of her eggs. "Do you think they are safe under there?"

"Don't worry. We've found a great hideout for them. They'll be fine, believe me."

"I worry too much. I know we did a good job to hide them. You know I trust you."

Days and weeks passed, and they both waited for their fry to hatch from their eggs. Echo and Zan happily saw that a boy and a girl were swimming to the surface.

Zan and Echo did things differently from the rest of their species. They didn't let nature choose which of the two would survive. They loved their two children equally.

They named the boy Stone and the baby girl Coral. Stone was the replica of his father and Coral had the same colour on her skin as her father but with a lighter shade. Even though Coral was the weakest of their two children. It didn't matter to them. The only thing that mattered to Echo and Zan was for their offspring to be healthy and alive.
