KOSA Issue

      Please look this up after reading this to fact check it. It also affects other apps such as discord, TikTok, snapchat, youtube etc. I'm not usually political in any state but I felt like this needed to be addressed. And don't worry I almost have the next story ready. But in case you didn't know, Wattpad might be taken down because of the KOSA act. If you didn't know, KOSA stand for "kids online safety act", and I respect them for the most part because they're trying to keep kids safe. Except for this thing. Now the whole point of them is to make sure kids stay safe on the internet. Which is a pretty good thing with the number of things that happen on the internet but I'm not getting into all that because I tend to stay out of it and don't like talking about it. But they are here to try and make sure there isn't a way for kids to see certain things or talk to people that they shouldn't. But this is where I tend to not like them anymore. They are making sure people under 18 can't do anything on the internet and by my understanding they're making kids phones a translucent book for parents to look through on the parents' phone.  Basically, removing all internet from kids because they've ran into nsfw things (not safe for work). Now let's be honest, most of us have done this before but we just got over it and probably forgot about it overtime. But they're making it their job to censor things and instead of doing what many websites do where they have the little switch that turns on restricted mode or some type of filter for all the explicit content, they're just taking the problem away completely which is unnecessary. If they just made a filter, we would be fine. And also, it's the parents job to monitor what their kids are watching and if they're not doing that it's on them. But it's not the government's responsibility to take care of children that isn't their own blood. So, with all of this happening, I do not want our stories to be taken down that we either love or have worked very hard on and I can relate to both of those because I read and write stories on this app and I would be sad if I couldn't read those stories or if my stories got taken down because someone worked really hard on those stories to make people happy and it's unfair to have them deleted for something that's not their fault. Let's stop this ridiculous nonsense and keep the stories all of us love whether its sci-fi, one shots, historical fiction, fantasy, fanfic, romance, horror, let's just save our stories from disappearing.
