FROM PAST TO PRESENT

Katelyn raised her hand but the professor refused to call on her. Her seatmate, one by the name of Harrold who had been trying to get her to sleep with him over the past month, snickered at her.

She rolled her eyes at him and dropped her hand. Professor SmartyPants just hated her because she knew a lot more than he did and that made her smile to herself, revelling in her own intelligence, and frankly, smugness. Her head was so big that it could be felt outside of the lecture room.

The bell finally rang and Professor SmartyPants, as she liked to call Dr. Thompson, dismissed them. She stuffed her laptop and papers in her bag and was about to go out the door when Harrold blocked her way.

"What do you want?" Kate asked the guy in a completely uninterested way.

"You know what will really loosen you up?" He said, holding back his laughter. "A good screw, Ms. Angry-all-the-time." And he let out the dirty punch line.

His buddies, two guys standing next to him and three girls around the room, all laughed out loud as the rest of the class piled outside. She sighed. She really didn't have time for his epic annoyance right now.

"Ha Ha. That really crack me up. One of these days, I just might, so good luck." she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes as she ducked out of his way and walked as fast as she could towards the door.

She let out a relieved breath as she walked along the corridor. It was nearly mid-afternoon but she was not feeling like eating yet, so she decided to head back up to her dormitory for a moment to catch some sleep. She realizes she hadn't slept quite well in the past few days.

Harrold was right. She was the "angry girl". The whole campus knew that. She came from somewhere far away and wasn't really interested in making friends, having a boyfriend or sleeping around. There were plenty of women like that and she was just one of them: the angry girl who's angry with the world for no apparent reason at all.

All that was lacking were black eyeliners, black clothes and the one-sided hairstyle and she was good to go. And so, for being "the angry girl", people usually avoided her and she was glad of that. She wasn't really interested in sharing her life story with people. She just came there to finish her studies... and study was what she was doing. That's all.

As she hastily made her way across the grounds toward their dormitory building, she suddenly became aware that she was flying off into the nether world and slamming back down on earth. When she realized what had happened, she was already on the ground, aching and all.

Her bag was on the muddy ground too and all the papers she had been carrying were scattered all over the place. She scrambled to her feet to retrieve all of the things that she dropped, when she found the reason why she fell.

She literally ran into someone, headfirst.

She glanced at herself briefly. She was covered in mud but anyway, good thing she was heading towards her dorm room.

She muttered hurried apologies to the person she ran into as she collected her things. To her surprise, she heard a laughed, actually, before someone helping her collect her things.
