HEISENBERG'S UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLES

The sad music emanating from the speakers of Beth's laptop did nothing for Katelyn's already dismal mood. She had been like that for the past two weeks, and Beth's initial thought was that she needed to get laid, real bad.

She didn't know the truth though. She didn't know what she heard. She only thought that she and Abbie got into a fight, and that they weren't going to be around each other for a while. The truth was that she knew that they probably would not be around each other for a long, long time and that's kind of hurting her right now.

"Bethany, if you don't shut that music up, I am definitely going to break that laptop in half." She said in her calmest tone and her friend looked at her as though she had gone crazy.

She stopped moving around the room and stared back. She was packing all her belongings because she had made her decision and this time, the decision was solid. She didn't have to think it through for months and months at a time, like with her previous decisions. This time, it happened in a snap and that was all she needed to know that this was it.

"So is this why you broke up with Princess Abigail?" Beth asked, eyeing her and her suitcase as she continued to throw her things in it.

She stopped for a moment and sat down on the edge of her bed, heaving a deep sigh. She had rehearsed the lines over and over in her head and had delivered them, word for word, in perfect monotone to Beth.

"Yes."

She had been given the chance of a lifetime. She had been given the chance to face her problems, fix it and renew her life. She had been given the chance to fix her relationship with her family, to get close to her Mom once again.

And most of all, the chance to fix herself, stop herself from hurting and go back to who she was.

And who gave her those chances? Of course, her beloved Abbie. She made her see who she could really be. She wasn't always a cynic. In fact, she had always been very positive about everything. And then, one negative thing came into her life and it destroyed her forever.

Then something positive came—namely Abigail—and she realized that she didn't always have to be angry.

"Are you sure?" Beth asked worriedly. She had shut her laptop now and she just smiled at her.

Lots of people taking up Master's degrees quit graduate school about halfway or at the end of the year. Some people just couldn't take the pressure and opted to just go home. Not her though. She absolutely could take the pressure, but she got in here for all the wrong reasons. Because she wanted to run away.

And now, she wanted to fix what she left behind. She wasn't really running away from university. She was just going back to the mess that she initially ran away from. And then, when all that's over and she was back to her usual, lovely self, by then perhaps she could continue her Master's degree quest.

She had all the time in the world after all.

"Yes, Beth. I am very sure. I don't wanna miss another opportunity anymore. My Mom won't be around forever and I'd have to make the best of what I have with her and my grandma before it's too late." She admitted, shrugging her shoulders.
