HUMAN EXISTENCE

🔺 🔺 🔺

Kate never liked herself when she was sick and, as of the moment, she was already sure she was sick—full-blown sick and not just "I-just-need-to-rest-for-a-moment" sick.

She was used to taking care of herself and not relying on other people, that's was why she hated being sick, because being sick entailed that she had to rely on other people or else, worst case scenario, she could die in her room, all by herself, alone and in pain.

She really wished the sickness would just pass.

"You can put me down." She said weakly as Abbie had taken to carrying her up to her apartment and she was now walking through the hallway leading to that particular door. "Seriously, I can walk. I'm not that sick. It's just a cold. I caught a cold since I have a poor immune system." She grumbled.

She hated being treated like a baby but at the same time, she really couldn't control her actions. She was, for lack of a better word, kind of liking it.

"No need for any further protest, we're almost home."

She tried to roll her eyes but even that felt too much work for her as of the moment, so she settled on not talking and found that that was actually better for her. Perhaps she should just stop talking altogether.

But she remembered something... and she knew she had to warn Abbie before she ran for the hills herself.

"You should know though, I'm incredibly needy when I'm sick." She said as calmly as possible, even though she never wanted to admit that to anyone. Not at all. Because she thinks it made her look weak.

But she was already weak.

She expected Abbie to just drop her right then and there and run for it, but to her surprise the girl or shall she say the princess just laughed.

"I'm kind of looking forward to that kind of Katelyn then. Let's see how Needy Katelyn goes. Maybe I'll like her more."

She stared at her with a baffled expression on her face. What on earth did someone would want a needy, clingy, whiny girlfriend? But maybe she was just saying that because she hasn't seen how she could be yet.

Kate was about to say something but then Abbie got there ahead of her and said, "We're here." as she opened the door to her apartment and carried her in. It was strange.

She tried to fight her stupid brain who was trying to show her glowing images of newlywed couples crossing a threshold. The images really made her gag.

"I think you can put me down now." She said triumphantly, although it didn't have quite the same effect seeing as her throat could barely give out sounds and her blocked nose only made it sound worse.

Abigail wasn't listening to her though.

"Oh, hey, bro," she heard her say and, without even looking to her other side, she buried her face in the crook between the girl's neck and chin. She was, in a word, embarrassed. She had no idea how to face Patrick, especially in such a compromising position. It was not an ideal time.

Besides, she just realized, Abbie smelled... hmmmm, nice.

"What are you doing here?" The girl asked and she noticed that she shook a little bit, probably because she was holding back a laugh.
