𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠 whatever supplies we might need and somehow managing to carry an unconscious Steve to the car, I quickly jump into the driver's seat and pull out of the driveway. Lucas works on finding directions to the tunnels and I follow his instructions closely.

"(Y/n)?" I hear Steve mumble from the backseat.

Taking a quick look at Steve in the rear view mirror as I drive, I notice he isn't looking too good. I quickly reach my free hand behind me and start to rub his thigh in a comforting manner.

"Hey, I'm right here," I try to reassure the boy, whose face twists in pain, "It's okay, Steve, you're gonna be okay. I'm right here."

I feel his rough and bruised hand grip mine for a split second, before he groans and brings his hand up to touch his bloodied and bruised face.

"No, don't touch it." My brother instructs, pulling Steve's hand down from his face, and I notice Steve turn his head towards Dustin, "Hey, buddy... Shh shh... It's okay. You put up a good fight."

"He kicked your ass, but you put up a good fight, buddy. You're okay." Dustin continues to attempt to reassure Steve, who continues to groan uncomfortably.

"Okay, you're gonna keep straight for a half a mile then make a left on Mount Sinai." Lucas instructs and I nod in acknowledgement.

"What's going on?" Steve questions, as he starts to regain more consciousness, "Oh my god!"

"Just relax." Dustin says to the panicked older boy beside him, "They were gonna leave you behind." He explains.

"Oh my god!"

"(Y/n) and I promised that you'd be cool, okay?" Dustin explains.

"Woah, woah, woah woah." Steve says, as I hit the accelerator a little harder, with urgency to get where we're going and because I'm starting to freak out too, "What's going on? Oh my god. No! Woah! Stop the car. Slow down."

"I told you he'd freak out." Mike leans over to argue with my brother in the backseat.

"Stop the car!" I hear Steve shout again.

"Everybody shut up!" I scream, causing everyone to go silent, "I'm trying to focus!"

"Oh, wait, that's Mount Sinai!" Lucas panics, causing my attention to turn towards him, "Make a left!"

"What?" I question, my eyes widening slightly.

"Turn left!" Lucas repeats and I instantly whip the steering wheel to the left, running into a mailbox, and causing everyone to scream, including me.

I continue down the road, until Lucas instructs me to turn into he pumpkin patch that Hopper mentioned. As we approach, I notice a massive hole in the ground, which is presumably the best entrance into the underground tunnels. I zoom towards it and stop the car just before the edge of the hole.

"Oh, hello!" Steve shouts, grabbing onto the seats and my brother.

"Whoa!" Dustin cries.

"Incredible." Mike adds, with a smile.

"I told you, zoomer." Max says from her spot next to my brother.

"You weren't wrong," I mumble with a smile, before turning back towards the kids, "That wasn't so bad, huh?"

The kids all nod in agreement as I pull the key from the ignition. All of us exit the car and head towards the trunk to grab our supplies. We make sure to cover our mouths and eyes with our bandanas and goggles, before I place my crowbar and Steve's bat on the ground. I then check on all the kids to make sure they're all ready to enter the tunnels, at which point I notice Steve's pained groan as he rolls out of the car and falls to the ground.
