"Excuse me." You uttered, standing up and rushing into the comfort room of your studio. You burst into tears, those which you've been holding back earlier.

You can't keep it together anymore. The pain inside your chest was becoming overwhelming. Regrets that you thought you've gotten over were coming stronger this time.

You know that it's better this way. You can't bear to see Haewon lose the chance to enliven her dream if you force things your way, especially seeing how happy she is with what she's doing right now.

You'd rather take up all the pain, and that's exactly what you're doing.

It's just that there are times that you couldn't help but think if things were a bit different, like if you had the best of both worlds. You could see Haewon doing what she loves to do, and at the same time - you have her.

But you know, you could only dream of that. You're quite glad with how far she has gone which she wouldn't have achieved if you held onto her.

You're just going to feel all these emotions, and hopefully; you'll get over them soon. You knew that these emotions would lead both of you nowhere.

Meanwhile, Haewon couldn't help but to glance at the door of the comfort room as she hung the strap of her bag over her shoulder, ready to leave. A while has passed yet you're still not coming out. She contemplated for some time before deciding to knock on the door.

"Y/N, you okay?" She asked. It didn't take long for you to open the door. You nodded and flashed a reassuring smile before returning to your seat. Despite the smile that you've given her, it didn't seem to put her at ease.

"So, like what I've said, I'll just send you the audio file and the copy of the tab to you. You may go now, Haewon. Thank you for your time and... perhaps, concern?" You chuckled and lowered your head as you continued figuring out the chords. There was something off in your chuckle that Haewon can't pinpoint.

Nonetheless, Haewon just nodded in response and made her way to the door. She took a final look at you as she was turning the knob open.

"Y/N."

You paused from what you're doing and lifted your gaze on her. "Yeah?"

"I'm sorry for how I acted earlier."

"It's fine, I understand where you were coming from. If you don't feel like that is enough, you'll have to take good care on your way home in exchange, Haewon."

Haewon, once again, just nodded in response before going out.

Eventually, the day of the special stage came on. All-in-all, it ended as a success. You all have been receiving praises with how it turned out. You and Haewon were also trending for the emotional performance that you delivered. People were commending you for being such a great performer, pointing out the expression and the gaze you held on Haewon the entire time. You were living out the lyrics.

And to you, that wasn't simply an act. It's raw emotions that you've shown up there. You thought of this performance as the last time that you'll ever be like this for her. You can't keep yourself miserable, so you're sending her off - hoping that this time, that'll be a success.

But then, Yujin had other plans. After she caught you crying one night, she got to make you talk about what you and Haewon were in the past. Everything that actually happened. Since then, she has observed Haewon. When she felt like you had the chance, she decided that she'll do something that you can't do yourself - to enlighten Haewon about everything.

As you went out of your dressing room, you flinched and held onto your chest out of shock at the proximity of Haewon to you. It seemed that she rushed her way here and was about to barge into your dressing room based on how she looked.

"Haewon? What brought you here?" You asked with furrowed eyebrows as you recovered.

She looked at you. You took notice of how teary her eyes were as she pushed into the dressing room. There, she hugged you. Then, she went on gripping your shirt with one hand while hitting your chest softly with the other. "You're so unfair, Y/N... Why did you keep all these to yourself?"

"W... What are you talking about?"

"You know exactly what I'm talking about, Y/N. Yujin told me everything. Going back, you're so unfair! When the company knew about our relationship and practically forced you to break up with me, why didn't you tell me about it? Why did you decide on everything on your own? Why, Y/N, why!" She started to bombard you with questions, still hitting you on your chest softly. "I held a grudge against you... and I feel so bad for it now that I learned about everything. You've put aside your own dream for mine."

You cupped her cheeks and brushed your thumbs against them. "No? I didn't put aside my own dream for yours, 'cause my dream was all about you in the first place. I love you, and I want nothing else other than to see you succeed with what you want to do in life. Look how far you've gone. I knew how much you wanted to debut. So, I did make the right decision back then, yeah? If you could only see yourself through my eyes, you'd know why I knew that I did the right thing." You looked at her adoringly.

"You know that? The moment that you stepped foot up there with the girls, I knew that you belonged there - in NMIXX. I could see how happy you were there. If I told you about it, what could've happened? Knowing you... you could've been the one who sacrificed, and I doubt that my conscience could take it. I've witnessed how much you've worked so hard for it, and I wouldn't let all that go to waste. On top of that, I would never want to be the hindrance for you to become truly happy. I know that it's there where you can be."

She looked at you with her now puffy eyes. She's crying. And you are, too.

"You were never a hindrance, Y/N. In fact, you contribute to it. Oh, please, you were my other half, for Pete's sake!" She held onto your hands which were on her cheek. "Didn't you say that your dream is to see me succeed with what I wanted to do in life?"

You nodded.

"Just so you know, my ultimate dream is to succeed in being your partner in life. Will you make my ultimate dream come true?" She asked, looking straight into your eyes. You looked back at her, and you were shocked to see her taking out a small box from the pocket of her pants. She wiped her tears away and composed herself as she got down on one knee.

You covered your mouth.

"Haewon..."

"I know that we're not even together, but we've lost a lot of time that we were supposed to spend together. I can't allow it to continue on. And no, I'm not letting you go anywhere now. I'll do whatever it takes just so you're going to be with me, and they could do nothing else about it. Y/N, will you marry me?" She opened the box and revealed the ring. "Please, marry me. I know that my message is such a mess, I just got the ring today. I didn't really have much time to craft a good one. But yeah, you get what I mean. I know that it may come off as impulsive, but trust me, I'm serious about this. I can't let you go anymore."

"Yes, Haewon... I'll marry you regardless." She quickly stood up and put the ring on your ring finger with the widest smile on her lips. She was teary-eyed again, but this time... you can easily tell that it's because of happiness.

"I love you." Haewon said softly as she kissed your head and hugged you tight.

This is your author making up for all the angst that I've put you into. I hope that y'all liked how it turned out. I feel like my writing skills are... getting a bit bad nowadays. But yeah, let me know if you would like a sequel - like an interview that they had after marriage and stuff like that!
