~Lenna's pov~

"He made me point the gun at himself and pulled the trigger ," I explained as tears rolled down my face. "He had also crumpled to the floor like the politician. I never wanted any part in this." I whispered.

I cupped Matteo's face, who was listening to me intently, his eyes filled with concern and empathy.

"And then you walked in , just as the deafening sound of the gunshot echoed through the room," I continued, as I gently caressed his face with my trembling hands. Matteo's expression remained soft.

I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself as I recounted the haunting events of that fateful night. "I didn't know what to do," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. "My mind was racing, and my heart was pounding in my chest. All I could think about was how everything had spiraled out of control and how I had become entangled in a web of lies and violence. So when my eyes met yours, my first instinct was to run , to escape from the chaos, and to find a way to protect myself, leading up to now." I rambled on. Matteo just stared up at me with a mixture of confusion and concern in his eyes. His silence was heavy, almost suffocating, as if he were searching for the right words to say in response. I could see the gears turning in his mind, his brows furrowing slightly as he processed the gravity of my confession. I took a deep breath and mustered up the courage to continue.

"But instead of running, I found myself drawn to you, like a moth to a flame. I couldn't resist the magnetic pull between us, even though I knew it was dangerous. So here I am, standing on the edge of uncertainty, ready to take a leap of faith. And if that means climbing up on you, onto this messy floor we find ourselves on, then so be it." At that moment, Matteo's confusion gave me confidence.

I grabbed his face and leaned so close that our lips were almost touching, feeling the warmth of his breath against my skin. His eyes widened in surprise, but I could see a flicker of desire in them. The air between us crackled with anticipation, and my heart raced with a mixture of nervousness and excitement. I had never been one to take risks, always opting for the safe and predictable path. But something about Matteo made me want to throw caution to the wind and dive headfirst into the unknown.

"I promise you.." I huffed. "That I'll prove myself innocent of this crime you accuse me of." I leaned in closer, brushing my lips against his earlobe, knowing that each word was teasing him further. " After I'm done with that, I'll make you fall in love with me ," I whispered seductively, allowing my fingers to lightly trace the outline of his jawline. Matteo's eyes met mine, filled with a mix of surprise and intrigue.

~Matteo's pov~

I'm already in love with you, idiot , I thought to myself, trying to hide the smile that threatened to betray my true feelings. Her confidence and determination only made me more certain of my own emotions. The way she whispered those words, her touch lingering on my skin, sent shivers down my spine. I wanted nothing more than to surrender to her to let myself be consumed by this whirlwind of emotions that she had ignited within me. But I couldn't let her know just yet. Not until she has proven herself.

" I'll give you something to keep until I have fulfilled my promise, but you have to return it to me once I have proven myself," she said, her voice filled with a mix of vulnerability and determination.

"What is it?" I asked. She smirked.

" You haven't agreed to my terms yet," she said, her eyes piercing into mine.

With a steady breath, I finally gave in to the overwhelming urge and nodded.

"Alright," I replied, my voice filled with a blend of uncertainty and excitement. "I'll agree to your terms.
