Lumbar Vertebra

Humans have five Lumbar Vertebrae which make up the lower part of the back.  These are distinguished by large vertebral bodies, no costal pits, no transverse processes or foramina, and their transverse spines slant vertically.  Because of their large bodies they are more easily crushed.
