I Love You So

Part 16

The winter was slowly fading away, bringing in that unwanted Georgia heat.

Amanda was sitting in the passengers seat while Rick drove. Amanda had the map on her lap as she went over the locations with Hershel, "We've been moving around in circles all winter." Amanda said

"We can't keep going on like this, Lori can't take much more." Hershel said quietly, "Rick, pull over, there's a creek down there. We can clean up and get water." He said, nodding as Rick honked the horn for everyone to pull over.

Everyone climbed out their cars and circled around Hershel's SUV

"15, you're on point." Rick told Carl, nodding as he went to go take watch.

"Hey! While everyone washes their panties, let's go hunt." Daryl told Rick as he led him into the woods. He walked down a set of tracks, looking over his shoulder at the prison, "that's a shame." he sighed

"It's perfect." Rick grinned as he grabbed Daryl's arm and dragged him back to the road, "we found a place, a prison, we'd have to do some work but i think it could provide security for us." Rick told the group

Amanda looked up at Rick, "That's a great find, Rick. Once everyone gathers themselves, we can go check it out." Amanda said.

T-Dog looked at Lori, examining her belly. He shook his head before looking at Amanda, "I'm ready." he said

The group made their way over to the back fence and watched as Rick clipped open the fence. Rick let Glenn and Maggie go first so they could clear some of the walkers. Amanda took the rear with Daryl to provide coverage. Rick carefully sealed up the fence before walking down the narrow strip.

Amanda moved from the end of the group to the front and ran down the path, leading the way. She opened the fence carefully, waiting for everyone to get inside. She went over to the fence and started taking out walkers with her knife

"It's perfect." Rick said, "we can shut that gate to prevent more from filling the yard. we can pick out these walkers, we get the field by tonight." Rick said

"How do we shut that gate?" Hershel asked

"I can do it." Amanda offered, "I'm the fastest." She said, "Glenn and Maggie are gonna draw attention for the walkers on the side, Daryl, go to the tower and provide cover. Carol, go to the opposite tower and do the same." Amanda said, "Rick, pull the gate open on my count." Amanda instructed

Rick looked uneasy, not wanting Amanda to go in by herself, but he nodded.

Amanda stood by the entrance of the gate, she dug her foot into the ground for leverage. She looked up at Rick, who was talking to Lori. Amanda couldn't help but roll her eyes angrily as she cleared her throat, "any day now, please!" She called, waiting for Rick to come over.

Rick walked over, looking at Amanda before he opened the gate.

Amanda took off in a dead sprint, running past the broken down bus. She slid past walkers, "Thank you!" Amanda shouted as an arrow flew past her, taking out a walker. She closed the gate, clipping it shut. She ran inside the tower, shutting the door behind her

"What a ballsy bitch." Daryl laughed, "light it up!" He shouted as everyone began taking down walkers.

Once the yard was cleared, they all met alongside the bus, "you okay?" Carol asked Lori

"Haven't felt this good in weeks." Lori admitted with a smile as she walked inside the fence

Amanda reached into her bag and pulled out some gloves, "Either start moving bodies or moving cars." She instructed, grabbing the ankles on a walker and dragging them to a corner of the fenced in area.
