Callie Maria Troy was an American child murdered on Halloween.
Callie was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Ellie and Henry Troy. She had an older brother, two years her senior, named Luca. Her parents divorced when she was seven but continued to co-parent. Callie and Luca lived with their mom mainly, but often went over to their dad's. In 2015, Henry Troy married Hailey Troy. Hailey had a daughter from a previous boyfriend, Rayla Hamilton, who was the same age as Luca.
For Halloween, in 2018, Callie and Luca were at their father's and went out trick or treating with Rayla. It all went fine, Callie was dressed as a vampire, Luca was dressed as Spider-Man and Rayla was dressed as a clown.
While on Helena Street on Lafayette, Rayla and Luca were trying to get ahold of Hailey and Henry so they could come pick them up. Unable to get connection where they were, Luca and Rayla walked down the sidewalk and Callie waited where she was, per her their instructions.
While there, James Moller, saw what he says he believed to be a teenager. He believed they were going to cause trouble, they had their hood up. So, he got his gun and fired a warning shot. It naturally spooked Callie who quickly stood up and turned towards James when he shot again, this time hitting Callie in the chest.
Upon hearing the gunshots, Rayla and Luca rushed back and watched as James went back inside. The two then called the police and an ambulance, which, by the time they arrived, Callie had died.
James was arrested and ended up hanging himself in his cell two days later.
