Tyler and Evan crept along the building, hearing groans and footsteps nearby. Evan held a machete tightly in his hand, Tyler with a rifle. He rarely used it, as he didn't want the noise to attract more of the zombies roaming around.

Evan peeked around the corner and frowned, pushing Tyler back a few feet. "The road is filled, there's no way through," he said worriedly and Tyler bit his lip, resting his hand on Evan's waist.

They were the last ones. Their friends had been killed one by one over the last year, them having lost their last one just three weeks before. Brock had gotten bitten trying to save Brian, who'd been torn apart in front of them. Evan had put the bullet in his head, Brock begging him to do so because he didn't want to be one of the things that had killed his fiancé.

"I'll lead them away Ev, you wait until it's clear and get to the base," Tyler said quietly and Evan shook his head. "No, I'm not leaving your side. You're all I have left, I can't lose you too," he insisted and Tyler touched his cheek.

"Let's go the back way then, see if it's clear. If we can make it to the hidden ladder, we'll be fine," he said finally and Evan nodded, adjusting his hold on his weapon.

They walked silently around the building, listening hard. Tyler walked ahead, rifle held at a ready as Evan kept an eye behind them. "It's mostly clear, there's only a few. We can probably sneak past them, just stay down," be whispered and Evan nodded, swallowing.

They started moving, watching every step they took and keeping an eye on the zombies ambling around. Tyler tripped, hissing silently at the noise he made. He shoved Evan behind a dumpster, seeing the zombies turn and start running towards the sound.

"Stay down, please," he begged as he sprinted off, climbing into a broken window a few houses down. Evan's heart broke, eyes locked on where Tyler had vanished. The zombies vanished but he stayed, curling up against the wall with his weapon held in his hands.

He didn't know how long he sat there, but soon the sun started peeking over the buildings. Evan blinked at the sunrays, glancing at where Tyler had vanished again. Was he okay? Was he alive? Where was he?

He stayed, keeping his eyes on the few zombies ambling around. A hand grabbed his arm and he nearly swung his machete until another hand grabbed his wrist, those familiar blue eyes looking at him wide eyed.

"Tyler," Evan breathed, lunging forward and kissing him deeply. "I'm here, I got away. Come on, we need to get back," Tyler whispered gently, holding him tightly a moment before letting him go.

Evan nodded, standing up and holding tightly onto Tyler's hand. He wasn't going to let him go now. They made it to the hidden ladder, Tyler hoisting Evan up and taking his hand to be yanked up a moment later.

They walked further inside the walls, nodding to the couple people walking around. Their close group was all dead, the ones they'd traveled with for months before finding this place. It was just the two of them now, and Evan wanted to keep it that way.

They got to their house, Tyler pausing in the doorway. Evan also stopped, frowning as he looked back. "Ev," Tyler whispered and Evan tilted his head, frowning concerned at him.

"I- I needed to get you home, I-" he paused, tears filling his eyes. "Ty? What's the matter?" He asked and Tyler took a breath, pulling his sleeve back. A bloody bite mark shone on his skin, the pale tone slowly turning green from infection.

"No, no no no, not you too, please," Evan begged, staggering forward to grab his arm just below the bite. "You can't leave me too Ty, you can't."

Tyler cupped his cheek with his free hand, his thumb tracing his cheekbone. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't get away fast enough. I don't want to leave you, but I'm not about to turn into one of those things. I can't, I need you to- I need," he whispered and Evan's breath caught.

"No, no no, no, I- no, Tyler please don't ask me to do this, I had to kill Brock and Jon, I can't kill you too," he begged, tears flowing as he locked eyes with his partners.

"I don't want anyone else to do it. I can't ask anyone else. I need you there till the end baby, I want you to be the last thing I see," he insisted, Evan wrapping his hands tightly around Tyler's.

He yanked Tyler into a tight hug, pressing his mouth desperately to his. Tyler kissed back just as rough, pushing Evan inside the house and kicking the door closed. "How- how long do you have?" Evan asked and Tyler shrugged.

"It's been about 4 hours, I'd say maybe anywhere between 4 and 8 hours," he whispered and Evan closed his eyes, more tears leaking out.

Tyler kissed him again, hands framing Evan's face. "I love you, Ev. With all my heart, and always will. But I'm not risking hurting you, and I don't want to become one of them. I need you to do this," he whispered and Evan leaned into his palm.

"You- you have a couple hours. I need you," he whispered and Tyler kissed him again and again. He didn't remove his hand from the others the whole time, holding him tightly with kisses being pressed over every single inch of Evan's body.

He held him tightly soon after, bodies twisted together. Tyler felt a twinge in his stomach and closed his eyes, pulling away. "We have to do this now baby, it's time," Tyler whispered and Evan sat up, swallowing as he nodded.

They got dressed quickly, Tyler gritting his teeth. They left the house, moving to an open area just outside the gate. There were no zombies nearby, Tyler checking around quickly.

"Shoot quick baby. I'll tell our family you say hi, yeah? And don't you join us any time soon, okay?" He said and Evan nodded, tears filling his eyes again. Tyler pressed his lips to Evan's one last time, lingering a moment.

Evan tried his best to commit this to memory, the feel of his partners hands on his waist, his chest against his and his lips on his own. He breathed in deeply, that faint scent of leather and car oil enveloping his senses.

"I love you, so much Evan. Do it quickly okay?" Tyler whispered and Evan traced his cheek with his fingers before pulling away. "I love you too, so much. Give the others my love, yeah?" He whispered and Tyler nodded, stepping back.

Evan held the pistol in one hand, holding it up shakily a moment before taking a deep breath. Tyler smiled reassuringly at him, blue eyes locked on his.

Evan swallowed, gritting his teeth. He pulled the trigger.

That's angst yeah? I was gonna do something different but I didn't feel that was angsty enough lol so have this. My husband helped me come up with the idea, though he told me to make EVAN hide the bite, not Tyler, but idk, the idea of Evan being the first and now the last one alive just hurts more to me.

Anyway, I hope yall enjoyed this! Kisses!!
