Logan Sargeant and Oscar Piastri sat in their favorite corner of the bustling cafe, sipping coffee as they indulged in their usual banter about life, racing, and everything in between. The atmosphere was light-hearted, filled with the camaraderie that came from years of friendship on and off the track.
Logan, fidgeting with his coffee cup, broke the easy rhythm of their conversation with a hesitant grin. "Oscar, mate, you wouldn't believe the girl I've got my eyes on lately. She's something else."
Oscar, raising an eyebrow, chuckled. "Oh? Do tell. I'm intrigued."
Logan leaned in, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Well, she's got this incredible smile, and her laugh, it's like music. But here's the kicker – she's taken."
Oscar quirked an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "Taken, huh? Tell me more. Who's the lucky guy?"
Logan hesitated for a moment, glancing around as if to ensure their conversation remained private. "It's someone we both know, mate. Someone close."
Oscar's curiosity heightened. "Come on, spill it. Who's the guy?"
Realization dawned on Logan's face as he inadvertently let slip, "It's Cassandra."
Oscar's eyes widened, momentarily stunned. "Wait, what? Cassandra, as in my Cassandra?"
Logan winced, realizing his mistake. "Uh, yeah. I didn't mean to, mate. It just slipped out."
Oscar's shock turned into a mix of confusion and mild amusement. "You've got a thing for Cass? Seriously?"
Logan scratched the back of his head nervously. "Yeah, it's complicated. I didn't plan on liking her, but it happened. And now I feel like a complete idiot."
Oscar, surprisingly calm, leaned back in his chair. "Well, this is unexpected. But hey, emotions are unpredictable. It's not like you can control who you're attracted to."
Logan sighed in relief, expecting a more hostile reaction. "I appreciate you being cool about it, mate. I didn't want things to get weird between us."
Oscar smirked. "Nah, we're mates. It'll take more than a crush to mess that up. Just be honest with yourself about it. And, you know, maybe find someone else to fancy."
Feeling a mixture of embarrassment and gratitude, Logan managed a sheepish smile. "Yeah, easier said than done, but I'll try. Thanks, Oscar."
As the conversation shifted back to racing and other topics, Logan couldn't shake the awkwardness that lingered. Eventually, he feigned a sudden realization. "Oh, I just remembered I have to make a call. Catch you later, mate."
Oscar, still processing the unexpected revelation, nodded. "Sure thing. Take care, Logan."
As Logan made a hasty exit, Oscar sat alone, pondering the twists and turns of friendship and attraction. The cafe buzzed with activity, oblivious to the momentary drama that unfolded between two friends navigating the complexities of relationships.
